Red Devils fans were far from happy after the final whistle as Manchester United missed out on a chance to move up the table by West Ham on Thursday night.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim lamented missed chances as his side failed to win against West Ham.
The Red Devils looked set to make it two wins in a row at Old Trafford on Thursday. Diogo Dalot gave United the lead in the second half.
However, West Ham put their opponents back in the game in the closing stages with Sungutu Magassa’s first Premier League goal. The draw leaves United eighth in the Premier League table, having had a chance to move up to fifth before kick-off.
And Amorim was left dissatisfied with the team’s inability to win. “(Performance) was inconsistent,” he said.

“We had some good moments, but we lost a little bit of control in the first half, and after the goal we lost a little bit of control in the second half. We should have ended the game with the first goal.
“We were in control of the game, we knew it. We were going to defend from far out in the box. We knew set-pieces would be a problem because of the height difference in the team, but we did that. After the first goal, we kept the ball, but again we conceded two points.”
Asked why the team could not confirm victory over the line, Amorim claimed that the team did not put enough effort into challenges and goals.

He added: “We just lost the second ball, and that’s when they kicked the long ball. Matheus (Fernandes) was running with the ball. They won the first ball and then Bowen was running in. You can’t control a game like that. After the first goal, we should be able to handle the ball more.”
“Cunha had a big chance. He had the ball close to the box, but the cross was not good. Sometimes the characteristics of a player in the box are not good. It’s not good enough to score from that position.”
United will look to get back to winning ways when they take on struggling Wolves on Monday night. Coach Amorim called on his team to get back on track and avoid losing their top-four spot any further.
“Everything is important, every game is important. We have to win the next game,” he said.
