Manchester City hero Yaya Toure has called Pep Guardiola a “snake” after he played under the Spaniard at Barcelona and the Etihad Stadium. Guardiola took over as City manager in 2016 and led the club to six Premier League titles.
Toure and Guardiola worked together at Barcelona from 2007 to 2010, with the manager stepping up to manage the club’s first team in 2008 after enjoying success as manager of the B team. However, the former Ivory Coast international was in and out of the squad under Guardiola, with Sergio Busquets often being selected ahead of him. The star then opted to move to England in the summer of 2010, after representing his country at the World Cup.
Toure became a key player for City, helping them win Premier League silver medals in 2012 and 2014, before Guardiola took over.
His influence on the pitch was evident for club and country, and he was named Africa’s Player of the Year four years in a row from 2011 to 2014.
However, his City career came to an end after Guardiola took charge at the Etihad Stadium as the manager sought to take the team to the next level.
Toure remained at City until the summer of 2018, when he won his third league title. However, he only started one league game during his final season at the club and signed for Olympiakos on a free transfer after leaving Manchester.
He stayed in Greece for one season before joining Chinese club QD Huanghai. This talented player ended his career at the age of 36 at the beginning of 2020.
Toure spoke about Guardiola when he appeared on the program “Zac en Lou Libre”. And he cried out, “I don’t see a man, I see a serpent.
“Then the Barcelona coach called me and said, ‘You have to come back, it’s important.'” My wife says to me, “Are you going to listen to that nonsense?” He treated you like dirt and now he wants you to stay and are you going to stay? Let’s go to Manchester, brother.
“That guy didn’t play with me all year. Then at the end of the year, I shined in the World Cup and he takes me to Barcelona. My wife used to talk about him: ‘Sheitan, he’s not a man, he’s evil.'” She sees him as a negative person. ”
Guardiola has been courted by a number of star players during his managerial career, with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto’o targeting the 54-year-old in the past.
However, the City manager also had an excellent run at Bayern Munich between 2013 and 2016, establishing himself as one of the best managers of all time. They are aiming to lead Manchester City to another Premier League title this season, but they currently sit five points behind leaders Arsenal.
