Thomas Frank has described Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed Guglielmo Vicario during Saturday’s game against Fulham as “not real fans” after the goalkeeper’s mistake.
Tottenham Hotspur players held an emergency meeting last month to discuss the club’s disconnect with its fans. Spurs conceded twice in six chaotic minutes as Fulham won 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.
The defeat capped off a miserable week for Thomas Frank’s side, who lost to Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, making it their fourth defeat in six Premier League games. It was also Spurs’ 10th home defeat in the Premier League in 2025, and they had never lost more than 10 home league games in a year in their history.
The big story of Saturday’s game was Fulham’s second goal, when Guglielmo Vicario lost the ball well outside the box. Harry Wilson eventually curled the ball into an unguarded net after the goalkeeper failed to clear the danger.
Shortly after, when the ball came to Vicario again, some Spurs fans booed him. This action infuriated Frank and Pedro Polo after the match.
And, according to the Telegraph, Spurs supporters were a major theme at the players’ meeting following the defeat to Chelsea on November 1. According to reports, the disconnect between players and supporters is seen as serious within the team.

The report also claims that Spurs players adopted a new practice of gathering in the center circle at the end of the first half and leaving the pitch together. The goal is to show unity, regardless of the atmosphere inside the stadium.
This is not the first time Spurs players have had concerns about their relationship with the club’s fans, and it is claimed that it has been an issue in the past. After Saturday’s match, Frank described the Tottenham supporters who booed Vicario as “not real fans” and considered it “unacceptable”.
“I didn’t like how the fans booed him (Vicario) right after the game and he even touched the ball a few times. They can’t be real Tottenham fans because when you’re on the pitch you all support each other.”
“And we do everything we can to perform. Of course, it’s okay if there are boos after we’re done. But not during the middle. In my opinion, that’s unacceptable.”
“Soccer is emotion. In soccer, just like in life, mistakes can always be made,” Poller said in an Instagram post on Sunday afternoon.
“What I can’t tolerate is hearing disrespectful words from fans towards my teammates and that’s my frustration at the end of the game.
“And we will rise. Remember, six months ago, everything was so bad. At the end of the day, it’s not how it starts, it’s how it ends that matters. True Spurs fans, I love you.”
