Laura Woods took to Instagram to update her fans about her safety after collapsing on live television on Tuesday night. The 38-year-old popular announcer appeared to faint during the live broadcast of England Lionesses’ friendly match against Ghana.
She was snapped up by critics Ian Wright and Anita Asante before ITV hastily pulled the advert. Katie Shanahan, who replaced Woods, said at half-time of the match that England won 2-0 that he was “doing well”, while Woods’ fiance Adam Collard also posted on X to reassure fans. And Woods took to social media to stress that he was fine and apologized for worrying everyone.
In an update he shared on his Instagram Story, Woods wrote, “It was a little weird. I’m sorry to worry you all, but I’m fine. The Saints’ amazing paramedics told me it was probably a virus and that I needed to rest and stay hydrated.”
“I’m so embarrassed that something like this happened on TV but I’m so grateful to my colleagues at ITV who looked out for me tonight. And to Righty and Neets for getting me. And sorry again, x.”
ITV shared the image on its X account with the message: “Wishing you a speedy recovery, @laura_woodsy.” Woods’ post followed one shared by Corrado earlier in the evening and was uploaded after well-wishers shared messages with the TNT Sports host on social media.
In a further update, he said: “Laura is doing well and is with the right people. Thank you for all your kind messages.” Fans were quick to send messages of sympathy to Woods after the upsetting scene just before kickoff at St. Mary’s.
One person wrote: “I really hope Laura Woods is okay. Fair play to Ian Wright and Anita Assante for getting her. Fair play to the presenter who replaced her. Give it a try,” while another added: “Laura I hope you’re okay and I’ll be back soon.”
A third wrote: “Laura, I hope you recover quickly and stay well,” while a fourth wrote: “I wish you a speedy recovery Laura x.”
