Thomas Frank has been vocal about the behavior of Tottenham supporters over the weekend, with the Spurs manager insisting his team needs a fan base.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has admitted he understands the frustration of his side’s supporters following their poor home run so far this season. Spurs have won just one of their seven Premier League games this season, against Burnley.
Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Fulham means that only Wolves have performed worse than Frank’s side at home this season. The North London side currently sit in 12th place, six points out of the top four.
Spurs conceded twice within six minutes against London rivals Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, compounding a miserable week following defeats to Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. This was their 10th home loss in 2025 in the Premier League alone.

Fulham’s second goal came when Guglielmo Vicario lost the ball outside the box, resulting in Harry Wilson curling the ball into an empty net. The next time the ball went to the Italian, there was booing from some Spurs fans, and Frank and Pedro Polo were furious.
“I didn’t like how the fans booed him (Vicario) right after the game and how he touched the ball a few times,” Frank said in the post-match press conference. “They’re not real Tottenham fans because everyone supports each other when they’re on the pitch.
“And we do everything we can for the performance. Naturally, it’s okay if there are boos at the end. But not during the middle. In my opinion, that is unacceptable.” In an Instagram post uploaded on Sunday afternoon, Polo said, “Football is emotion. In football, just like in life, mistakes can always happen.
“What I can’t tolerate is hearing disrespectful words from fans towards teammates, and the frustration that comes with it at the end of a game. And we stand up. Remember, six months ago, everything was so bad. In the end, it’s not how it starts, it’s how it ends. True Spurs fans, I love you.”
Ahead of Tuesday night’s game against Newcastle, the Telegraph reported that Tottenham players held an emergency meeting last month to discuss their disconnect with fans. Spurs supporters are said to have been a major theme during the player meeting following the narrow defeat to Chelsea on November 1st.
The report also claims that Spurs players adopted a new practice of gathering in the center circle at the end of the first half and leaving the pitch together. Ahead of the trip to Newcastle, Frank spoke out about his relationship with supporters after previously admitting he didn’t like the boos towards Vicario.
“I understand the frustration,” he said. “There’s always frustration when you don’t win. We haven’t won a lot at home this season and last season, so it can be even more frustrating. It’s my job to do what I can to stay calm.”
“We are nothing without our fans. Tottenham Hotspur is nothing without our fans. What I am saying is that during the match we need each other. The booing afterwards can be fair. We need to be a fortress during the match and for that we all need to stick together.”
