Manchester United prepare to sell four players as Ruben Amorim faces big dilemma | Soccer | Sports

Manchester United reportedly intend to sell Koby Mainu, Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte and Tyrell Malasia in January. None of their players have been regular starters this season and United have been finding their form back in recent weeks.

With two new golden transfer rules, United have struggled at the start of the season, with manager Ruben Amorim under huge pressure after losing to League Two Grimsby in the Carabao Cup in August. However, the Red Devils have lost just one of their last seven Premier League games and moved up to seventh in the table after defeating Crystal Palace on Sunday. And Amorim hopes to use the January transfer window to take his team to the next level.

According to ESPN, United will listen to offers for Maynou, Zirksee, Ugarte and Marassia. But Amorim faces a major dilemma. If they allow someone to transfer before bringing in new talent, they will run out of players.

United will be short on depth over the Christmas period as Brian Mbeumo, Amad and Nouseir Mazraoui are set to feature in the African Cup of Nations, which begins just before Christmas.

The final of the tournament is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 18th, meaning the Red Devils could be short on options until the new year. Amorim may therefore have to postpone his departure until he is able to select from a full squad again.

Meanwhile, United could delve into the transfer market to bring in reinforcements in January, with Elliott Anderson, Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleva and Angelo Stiller said to be on the club’s radar.

And if the Red Devils hierarchy can free up funds, the club could make a move on one of those midfield targets.

Amorim spoke about the January transfer window at the end of October after being asked for his thoughts.

And the Portuguese coach explained: “Many things can happen. Even in our club, and as you know, there is a World Cup (next year), there are players who are not playing and they will ask to leave. So I have to manage everything. So I have to manage everything.”

“We want to bring in everyone here, players who have a big future at Manchester United.

“We don’t just buy one player, because in December we feel like we need this kind of player at the moment. We want to buy players that we know we’re not going to change over and over again. That’s our thinking.”

“We don’t know what will happen, but of course we will think about how to improve the team. The window is open in January so we can do something.”
