Liverpool have had two disastrous seasons under manager Arne Slott, but behind the scenes it is believed the Reds can still get their campaign back on track.
Despite a disastrous season so far, Liverpool can still win the league, according to the Reds boss. The Merseysiders have endured a disastrous second campaign under Arne Slott.
Ahead of their game against West Ham on Sunday afternoon, they have lost six of their opening 12 league games and are languishing in 13th place in the Premier League. If the result goes against them, Liverpool could end up 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal at the weekend.
Despite this, there is still belief behind the scenes at Anfield that they can turn the season around and make it a success. According to The Times, one club executive believes Liverpool can still finish top of the table.
The club clearly have the patience and desire to give Slott time to turn things around. The club’s view of the Dutchman has not changed, but he is in the same position with his employer as he was when he led the club to Premier League title last season.
Claims that Liverpool can still win the league do not square with Roy Keane’s withering view of the Reds. Following the defeat to Manchester City earlier this month, the Manchester United icon claimed Slott’s side were already out of contention for the Premier League title.

He said: “I can’t think of Liverpool as candidates for the league title at the moment. I think it’s a crisis period for Liverpool. We know they could lose to Man City.”
“We know it’s a difficult place to come to and there are clearly signs that Man City are getting back to their best, but it must be a crisis for a club like Liverpool to have already lost seven of their 10 games this season and five in the league.”
Slott has already revealed that he has spoken to the leaders about Liverpool’s form, but insisted there was nothing unusual about it. Speaking at a press conference ahead of this weekend’s game, he said:

“I’m not sure if I said it last night, but we keep fighting. We’re trying to get better and that’s what we’re all trying to do, but the conversation is the same as it has been for the past year and a half.”
Following their clash with West Ham, Liverpool welcome Sunderland to Anfield in the middle of next week before facing struggling Leeds United at Elland Road next weekend.
