Second half goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount put Manchester United back on track in the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Manchester United came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, ending Monday night’s disastrous defeat at Everton with an important away win.
But it wasn’t easy for United. A lackluster first period saw Jean-Philippe Mateta take the lead with a penalty, but they were lucky to only be one down at half-time. The Palace center forward initially found the back of the net, but could only score with a “double touch” and had to retake the penalty.
But United manager Ruben Amorim watched on as Joshua Zirkzee went off the mark this season, scoring the equalizer in the 54th minute with a stunning low finish, his first league goal since December. Then, nine minutes later, Mason Mount’s curled shot put the Red Devils ahead.
After an initial response by Palace, United held on with relative ease, winning four of their seven games to move into the top half, just four points behind rivals Manchester City.
Here’s our take on United’s players at Selhurst Park on Sunday…

Senne Ramens – 6
He made some promising saves in the first half, but after the first 45 minutes he was picked out by a bad group.
Yoro Lenny – 3
We had another bad game. Yoro escaped a huge blunder when Mateta failed to finish and looked to have recovered with a crucial block, but then made a clumsy challenge and was awarded a penalty.
Matthijs de Ligt – 5
Mateta is an old-school centre-forward who questioned De Ligt from the first whistle and won a physical battle to lift De Ligt out of his position. The second half looked more comfortable.
Luke Shaw – 6
Shaw made a great block just before half-time to deny Palace a two-goal advantage. There was little attacking threat to his side throughout the afternoon, which was praise from the hosts. He was booked for a professional foul.
Amado – 5
He was reassigned to right wing-back and looked comfortable, but was not involved in the complex plays that could be arranged on that flank. It could have been done better.
Casemiro – 5
Amorim could not believe Casemiro had not put United ahead just one minute into the game. The Brazilian wasted a header from a free-kick but improved after a shaky start. 5
Bruno Fernandes – 7
Fernandes is world-class because he creates something even on his days off. Fernandes was responsible for two assists from United’s set-piece routines.
Diogo Dalot – 7
Although Dalot was recalled on a walkover, he made a difference with his long throw-ins, but it would have been difficult to underestimate Patrick Dorg, who played well against Everton.
Brian Mbeumo – 5
Mbeumo was untouchable before the international break but hasn’t returned with much enthusiasm. He still worked hard on the right, but could do even more in the final third.
Mason Mount – 8
It was his first start since playing a key role in the win against Liverpool at Anfield. His performance was similar, hard-working and hard-working, but there was a crucial difference. That was what he scored.
Joshua Zirkzee – 7
In the first half, they had a series of good touches followed by bad touches and couldn’t do anything, but they were able to tie the score with a great finish. Zirksee’s half-volley had to be powerful to beat the goalkeeper, and it was.
sub
Nousser Mazraoui – 6 – He was a player who took Yoro even further.
Lisandro Martinez – 6 – Great in his first appearance since February.
Patrick Dorg – Arrived late. Not applicable
Koby Mynu – Same as Dolgu. Not applicable
