Arne Slott has already dealt with his family situation since joining Liverpool
Arne Slott has already admitted that he would have liked to have seen more of his family, given his own move to Liverpool. The Reds manager had a brilliant debut season in England, leading the club to their second Premier League title in five years.
However, a poor second season has taken its toll on the Dutchman, with Liverpool languishing in 12th place after 12 games and a dismal bid to defend their league title so far. They have already lost six league games, but the pressure has only increased after losing 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest last weekend.
The struggles the Merseyside giants have endured this season have been uncharted territory for a club that has had little success for almost a decade. For his wife and two children, who remain in the Netherlands, the loss and increased scrutiny could be even more damaging to Slott.
Slott and his wife Mirjam decided that he, his son Jop, and his daughter Isa would remain in their homeland to ensure their children’s education was not disrupted by Jurgen Klopp’s decision to replace him.
It was after the Reds won the title that Slott opened up about the struggle of being away from his family and detailed the minimal amount of time he would be able to see them during the season.

Speaking to Dutch media outlet AD earlier this year, the 47-year-old said: “I think anyone who is married and has a good marriage would like to see their kids and their wife a little more. My wife comes to visit me one or two days a fortnight, but my kids, unfortunately, even less.”

The Slott family visited Anfield last season when Liverpool clinched the Premier League title with a 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Mr Slott said his status as a public figure was having an impact on his wife, while revealing his daughter Isa was due to live with him for three months while she studied English in Manchester.
“She (Mirjam) feels that attention is the hardest part of our lives,” the Reds manager added. “She already experienced that at Feyenoord. She also prefers take-out food rather than us sitting together. She feels differently that she is being watched or judged.”
Jamie Carragher says that despite being a Premier League-winning manager, Liverpool have suffered a sharp decline in form and performance this season, leaving Slott on the “first line”. On Monday Night Football, the Reds icon admitted that the slot position is currently under pressure.
Carragher said: “Obviously the manager is leading the way. Any manager who has had a result like that will be under pressure if he’s in the bottom four or in a promoted team.”
“I’m sure the manager is under pressure with a result like this, not only because of the fact that they are champions, but also because of the summer Liverpool have spent.”
