Manchester United completed a spectacular comeback to defeat Crystal Palace in a ferocious clash at Selhurst Park.

Coach Ruben Amorim’s side had a disastrous first half with many of their star players struggling to get into the game. The visitors then went behind nine minutes before the interval as Jean-Philippe Mateta calmly recovered the penalty. But the Red Devils, who lost to Everton on Monday night, were a completely different team in the second period, with Joshua Zirkzee leveling the score for the visitors with a superb shot from a tight angle.

Mason Mount then made the most of a free-kick in front of the box to put United ahead just after the hour mark, and the 13-time Premier League champions held firm to take all three points. Express Sport has also rated and shortlisted United players.

Manchester United player rating (3-4-2-1)

Senne Ramens: 7

There were a few efforts to save while United were in danger, but overall solid when getting the team out of trouble. He will be frustrated by the performance of his outfield teammates in the first half.

Yoro Lenny: 4

During the first half, when the host team had the upper hand, he showed courage by blocking a powerful shot from Yeremy Pino. However, it was a reckless move to bring down Mateta in the box with little chance of receiving the ball. After that, when he brought it up from the back, he lost the ball and was substituted early in the second half.

Matthijs de Ligt: 4

Within the first 10 minutes Mateta was exposed to the ball as he covered, then the Palace attacker cleared and fired a shot on goal, running straight over the ball. Mateta then had another big chance, heading the ball past Lenny Yolo. Just before the break, he slipped and conceded a goal to Eddie Nketiah. He was also terrible on the ball.

Luke Shaw: 7

In the minutes before half-time, he made crucial tackles on Pino and Eddie Nketiah. He was United’s best defender, but United need to strengthen at the back.

Amad Diallo: 4

In the first half, Palace shifted from defense to attack, and Daichi Kamata stole the ball and forced a corner kick. They had too much possession of the ball and at one point drove a cross into the side netting. Brian Mbeumo was then available, but was stripped by Daniel Muñoz.

Casemiro: 4

He almost scored the first goal in the opening minutes of the game, but was denied by Dean Henderson. Immediately after that, he had a free header opportunity, but his header missed the target. He could not claim any authority over the match.

Bruno Fernandes: 7

He had a series of dangerous shots into the area, but was wasted by his teammates for most of the match. He has energy and shines at times, recording two assists and becoming a catalyst for the team’s revival.

Diogo Dalot: 5

He played on the left, but lacked urgency and quality. At one point he made a long throw and both feet appeared to be off the ground when the ball left his hands. He won the free kick that led to his team’s second goal, but struggled throughout.

Brian Mbeumo: 6

He was United’s main attacking threat in the first half, making smart runs in behind. But he didn’t run with the ball toward defenders, as he often does. He took a weak shot on goal towards the end.

Joshua Zirksee: 5

In the first half, they lost the ball many times and were unable to carry the ball with their backs to the goal. He didn’t pose a goal threat early on, but then he beat the disenfranchised Henderson from an angle and scored the equalizing goal from nothing.

Mason Mount: 7

He has shown his sharpness at times this season and, after a quiet first half, he scored United’s second goal with a superb strike. He continues to get plenty of playing time, which shows how highly regarded he is.

replacement

Nousser Mazraoui: 7

Reno Yolo was introduced nine minutes after half-time and the Red Devils looked even more solid after his introduction.

Lisandro Martinez: 6

He came on in the final 10 minutes and was given his first appearance after 10 months on the sidelines.

Patrick Dorg: 6

It appeared at the end.

Coby Mainu: 6

He contributed to United’s victory in stoppage time.
