Manchester United are planning to sign a young Brazilian talent who is learning from Neymar, according to reports. It’s been a complicated campaign for the Red Devils, with many ups and downs over the past few months. They are competing with the Premier League’s top four but are currently mid-table after Monday’s loss to Everton.
United spent over £220m over the summer, bringing in a number of big-name players to strengthen their squad. They are also keeping an eye on the future, recruiting several young stars who have the potential to shine in the coming years. Diego Leon joined Old Trafford earlier this year and Colombian youth international Cristian Orozco is said to be close to completing a £755,000 move.
Now, it has emerged that United could be hitting the January market in search of new and exciting talent. According to Brazilian media outlet Diario do Peixe, they are interested in signing Santos winger Robinho Junior and could attack if the opportunity arises.
Robinho has reportedly been tracked by United for some time and has been on their radar for around a year. Talks over a possible transfer have not yet begun, but the Red Devils are preparing to increase their interest in January.
Old Trafford authorities are said to view the 17-year-old as a player with “huge potential for development”. With Santos struggling near the bottom of the table, the club’s scouts have already traveled to Brazil to monitor his progress.
Robinho has already been likened to Neymar, who he has played with at club level and who he has undoubtedly learned a lot from. He also comes from a footballing family as the son of former Manchester City and Real Madrid forward Robinho.
This follows reports that Ruben Amorim has identified three specific areas of improvement within the squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
They reportedly want to sign two wing-backs and a midfielder next summer, but the busy January transfer window is still on the table.
United are said to be one of several clubs keeping an eye on Bournemouth talisman Antoine Semenyo, who has been linked with a move away from the Vitality Stadium in the new year.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are set to leave Old Trafford ahead of next season. Both players will spend this season on loan, but could become permanent transfers in the summer.
