Arne Slott still clings to Liverpool and maintains the support of the club hierarchy, but fans appear to have made up their minds on the Dutchman after the PSV defeat
Liverpool supporters have called for the club to sack manager Arne Slott after another disastrous defeat. On Wednesday night, the Reds were thrashed 4-1 by PSV Eindhoven at Anfield in the Champions League, putting further pressure on a slot that now appears to have lost the majority of its fans.
Liverpool’s solid defense shone once again as PSV ran riot in the second half, joining Nottingham Forest and Manchester City as opponents to win by three points in three games in a row. There were some worrying signs at Anfield, with Slott looking powerless to halt his side’s slump to a ninth defeat in their last 12 games.
Slott received support from Steven Gerrard, who said the current situation did not amount to a “crisis”, and from Jamie Carragher, who criticized the players. And Mirror Football understands the Dutchman’s job is safe for the time being as he has plenty of credit in the bank after a sensational debut season that saw him win the Premier League title.
But opposition is growing louder, with Gerrard pointing out that “Anfield tells stories but the seats are empty”. And that sentiment was clear when Mirror Football took to Liverpool’s dedicated WhatsApp channel to ask whether the club should sack Slots.

912 responses were received, with 620 (68%) saying yes and 292 (32%) saying they would give it time, giving an overwhelming verdict.
“I feel like my position is okay,” Slott said after PSV’s humiliating defeat. “I feel safe. I have a lot of support from the upper management. They help me, but they don’t call me every minute of the day and say they trust me. I feel trust, but I haven’t talked to them after this game.”
Carragher told CBS Sports: “They are different from almost all the top clubs in European football where the manager is king. Managers are given time. Liverpool have never sacked a manager who has won the league. Liverpool have never sacked a manager who has won the league. Liverpool have never sacked a manager.”

“After the weekend (defeat to Forest) I couldn’t believe people were talking about the manager’s job and now it’s only amplified. I’ve always been around the manager and in your camps and I’m angry at the players.”
Slott will take charge of the Premier League trip to West Ham on Sunday. Liverpool are in desperate need of a morale-boosting win as they sit 12th in the league having lost six of their last seven games.
