Liverpool manager Arn Slott is currently under intense pressure at Anfield, with Jamie Carragher predicting the Dutch manager could be sacked if the Reds’ next three games go poorly.
Liverpool manager Arne Slott has just one week left in his appointment, according to Anfield favorite Jamie Carragher. It is claimed the Dutchman’s position could become untenable if the Premier League champions’ next three matches do not go to plan.
Liverpool lost to PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night, Slot’s ninth loss in 12 games. It was the club’s third consecutive defeat by three goals and increased pressure on the former Feyenoord manager, who won the Premier League title earlier this year.
Mirror Football understands that the slot job is safe for the time being. However, if Liverpool’s poor form continues, things could quickly turn around with the Reds set to face West Ham at the weekend.

Carragher has now revealed he believes Sunday’s game in east London, as well as games against newly promoted Sunderland and Leeds, will be decisive for the future of the slot.
“Arn Slott has a week’s work to spare,” Carragher wrote bluntly in the Telegraph. “It’s hard to believe that a verdict like this has been written, but Liverpool’s next three games are against West Ham United, Sunderland and Leeds United. Anything less than seven points would make an already untenable situation untenable.”
“No matter how well-intentioned the manager may be, Liverpool Football Club cannot tolerate the decline in standards that we have seen over the past three months.
“No one knows better than me how much this reality hurts everyone associated with my old club. Liverpool will never be willing to sack a coach, especially one who has brought them so much success.”
“As for his next opponent, he couldn’t have chosen a better order of matches to regain his confidence and save himself,” Carragher added. “But if the situation worsens and the manager is unable to find a solution, the club will have no choice but to find someone else who can do it.”
Carragher believes Slott is “sticky” and in hindsight believes there were red flags in Liverpool’s late-season form and defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.
The Champions League winner has doubts about the style Slott is currently introducing, but believes a lot of it is also directed at Liverpool’s hierarchy. “We made a mistake signing two expensive No.9s,” Carragher said, highlighting the role of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes in the summer.
“Since the start of this season, it seems like Slott is trying to take the team in a different direction than Liverpool’s winning tradition, which felt wrong on the first day of the season and that has led to the current mess,” Carragher said.
“Those above Slott will also be questioned. History should not be rewritten. When Klopp left, Fenway Sports Group’s first priority was to hire Michael Edwards. He hired sporting director Richard Hughes and Slott followed suit, winning the Premier League. That was an extraordinary achievement in his first year.”
“People will try to write off that first season as ‘Klopp’s team’ but I don’t think so. The team improved under Klopp and could have won the title, we will never know, but Slott was coached by Ryan Graben. He used tactics his predecessors never did, such as using Birch as number 6 and Luis Diaz as number 9. He rejuvenated Mohamed Salah and had the best season of his life. People were asking him to sell the Egyptian talisman before “Slot arrived.
“But then it’s incredible that Liverpool have spent £450m building an unbalanced squad, lacking adequate cover at wing and centre-back. After letting Dias go, Liverpool go into the season without real competition for Salah and Codi Gakpo. It’s all well and good to ask for one or both to be removed, but who will replace them?”
