Manager Ryan Grafenbirch says Liverpool’s players are “angry” after the 4-1 Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven put increased pressure on Arne Slott.
Ryan Grafenbirch has admitted he and his Liverpool teammates are “angry” after the Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven. The crushing defeat fueled speculation over Arne Slott’s position at Anfield.
The Reds were defeated 4-1 at home by PSV on Wednesday night, making it their third consecutive loss in all competitions. All three of these games saw Liverpool lose by three points, with Manchester City and Nottingham Forest also recently defeating the defending Premier League champions.
With six defeats in seven Premier League games, Liverpool have fallen to 12th in the table ahead of their game against West Ham at the weekend. Liverpool’s disappointing results have spread to European competitions as well, with the club languishing in 13th place in the league table due to PSV’s brutal attack.

When asked to explain his state of mind following Liverpool’s surrender of PSV, Grabenbirch made an alarming confession. “What can I say about today? We’re just angry,” Gravenbirch told TNT Sports when asked what the atmosphere was like in the dressing room. “I’m angry that we lost.
“I don’t think we played badly in the first half. We created a lot of chances. In the second half, we really didn’t do well.”
Grabenbirch’s comments came after Slott was asked about his future as Liverpool manager. Asked about job security at Anfield, Slott said: “I don’t think it matters whether it’s fair or not.” “But that’s normal, I understand that.
“When every manager in the world loses a football game, let alone as many as we lost, it’s very normal for people to have an opinion about it.
“And whether that’s fair or unfair is for the people to decide. But that’s normal. I think when you lose too many times, people start talking about it.
“I think this is a shock for everyone, for the players, for the journalists here, for me. It’s a shock for everyone and it’s very, very, very unexpected when you look at our quality.”
Liverpool will be determined to return to winning ways as they prepare to face West Ham in the Premier League at the weekend.
