Arsenal 3-1 Bayern Munich: The Gunners maintained their perfect record in the Champions League with substitutes Noni Maduke and Gabriel Martinelli picking up the three points.
Arsenal have maintained their perfect record in the Champions League this season, with summer signing Noni Madueke coming off the bench and turning the game around with a win over Bayern Munich. This further emphasized the depth of the Gunners’ depth.
The former Chelsea man, who was ridiculed in the midst of his move from Stamford Bridge, continued to win over a new fan base and enjoyed his best moment yet in red, scoring his first goal for Arsenal with 20 minutes remaining.
Arsenal are top of the Champions League group phase and the Premier League thanks to Mikel Arteta’s wealth of options. Another summer investment further armed the Spaniard and he made the most of it to break through another discipline of Pep Guardiola in Vincent Kompany.
Bayern had not lost in any competition this season, but they lost to the Gunners. Maduke’s introduction was forced due to an injury to Leandro Trossard. However, looking for a winner, Arsenal made further changes, bringing on Gabriel Martinelli and Riccardo Calafioli. The latter took just a minute for Maduke’s fellow sub to score the winning goal from close range.
Not to be outdone, Martinelli showed his pace as the ball began to move in route one, making a vital touch ahead of the onrushing Manuel Neuer. The Brazilian fired the ball into an empty net, electrifying the Emirates side and proving it was a great night for the subs.

Arsenal went into Wednesday’s match without conceding in their first four games in Europe, matching England’s record. It was no surprise that a defensive stalwart stopped a team that had already scored 64 points this season, but it was a rare moment of cheer for the Germans.
Harry Kane has returned to north London, but it was a memorable return for the former Tottenham striker. The Englishman has broken even more records in the Bundesliga this season, but he is hungry for work at the Emirates, making opportunities at a premium. He was well organised, with Michael Oliseh and Lennart Karl the ones most likely to cause problems for Arsenal’s backline.
Julian Timber’s opening goal was typical Arsenal. What I’m talking about here is the set pieces they’ve become known for in recent years. The Dutchman was a successful man with another impressive and intricate routine on his way home.
The goal briefly ended Bayern’s momentum, but had Eze shown the same level of strength he showed in Sunday’s north London derby victory, Arsenal could have doubled their lead with 30 minutes remaining.
If the former Crystal Palace ace was feeling frustrated, it would grow even louder seconds later. It took two passes for Bayern to get from the center circle to the back of Arsenal’s goal. Karl is a 17-year-old sensation who has taken German football by storm and is the first man to score since Serge Gnabry gave it to a teenager.
Arsenal were kicked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich in 2024 and were looking for revenge. Both teams drew at the Emirates before Bayern defeated the Gunners at the Allianz Arena.
Not only will they gain a one-goal lead over Bayern, but they will also put Europe back in the spotlight. Remember, even if we can stop Arsenal in the first hour, we need to stop the embarrassment they bring in terms of quality.
