Liverpool are facing a major crisis under manager Arne Slott, with the Dutchman’s position at Anfield in doubt and he has spoken out about the club’s owner’s position.
Arne Slott believes he has the confidence of the Anfield board after a humiliating defeat that meant Liverpool are in their worst form for more than 70 years.
“I feel like my position is okay,” Slott said after the humiliating 4-1 defeat at home to PSV Eindhoven. “I feel safe. There’s a lot of support from above.”
“They help me, but they don’t call me every minute of the day to say they trust me. I feel the trust, but I haven’t talked to them after this game.”
In the Premier League and Champions League, Slott’s side have lost nine of their last 12 games, their worst run since the 1953-54 season.
“Emotions are very negative,” Slott said. “I think this is a shock for everyone, the players, the journalists and myself. It’s very, very unexpected. But we have to face the situation we’re in and fight hard.”

And former captain Steven Gerrard says they are not yet in crisis, but not far away.
Gerrard said: “Crisis is a very strong word for the players who have contributed so much to this club and the manager who has contributed so much to this club.
“But it (the performance against PSV) was not good enough. There are no excuses for that. I won’t use that word (crisis) yet, but there is no denying that this team is struggling very hard.

“They are in terrible form, their confidence is at an all-time low and they are bleeding. They keep conceding goals and the gaps are huge and this will continue unless the manager can find answers and stability in the team.”
However, Slott tried to remain positive, adding: “I want to be positive about the reaction of the players after losing 1-0, because up until half-time they were playing well. The players have very high quality and we can’t let things go like this.”
Slott may have to go against West Ham without Hugo Ekitike, who was forced off early in the second half with a back problem.
