Hamann offered his verdict on Liverpool’s defeat, with the former midfielder explaining why he expected Slott to make further changes to the squad.
Hugo Ekitike spearheaded Liverpool’s attack, while Alexander Isak was included as a substitute. The only other change made by Slott was to replace Alisson Becker, who was absent due to illness, with Giorgi Mamadashvili.
Hamann explained why he believes Salah should have been left out for the game against PSV, but also questioned the future of the slot in the Anfield hot seat.
“I thought Salah might be one of the first players to be dropped,” Hamann told RTE Sport. “And I said to myself, ‘I don’t know because he needs him.’
“Now he (Slot) has to make a decision: do he sack Salah or do he continue to work without him?”
“What Salah did in PSV’s second goal was when the slot had a chance to pull him away right away. What he did there was disgraceful.
“For a player of Salah’s caliber, he has carried the team on his shoulders for the past seven or eight years, so it hurts to say something like this.
“But what did he do to pass a player named Mauro Junior without doing anything to help the team?”
