It is not uncommon for managers to be sacked in the Premier League, with Liverpool’s Arne Slott and Tottenham’s Thomas Frank among the managers currently under pressure.
There are few jobs more precarious than being a football manager. Four managers have already been sacked in the Premier League this season as clubs aim to rebuild their businesses.
Vitor Pereira, Graham Potter, Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou were all given their marching orders during the campaign. Santo has already returned to the sector, providing a very vivid picture of the executive merry-go-round.
With just 12 games played this season, it’s not inconceivable that more coaches could be in trouble by the end of 2025/26. Some people may already be worried about their position and have sweat on their foreheads.
The lucky few and the most qualified people will never think about the possibility of being fired, or have any fear of having their future ripped out from under them. Things change quickly in the Premier League.
Mirror Football takes a look at the situation with bosses across the division.

Arsenal have soared to the top of the Premier League and the Gunners would never dream of sacking Mikel Arteta, who is on track to eventually bring the title to the Emirates. If he misses out again it might give him something to think about, but the Spaniard has overseen a great job in north London.
Josep Guardiola is likely to decide his future at Manchester City, while Oliver Glasner is on track for another strong season after leading Crystal Palace to the FA Cup last season. The latter are far more likely to leave of their own accord.
Unai Emery has guided Aston Villa to fourth place after a shaky start, while Chelsea are unlikely to part ways with Enzo Maresca, who is second in the Premier League, anytime soon.
Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola has been in phenomenal form following his summer sale, while Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris is enjoying an exciting season with newly promoted Sunderland. There’s no bag danger there.
Similarly, Fabian Hürzeler has successfully guided Brighton with the Seagulls four points behind Chelsea in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Sean Dyche’s win against Liverpool will put him in a good position to become Nottingham Forest’s third manager this season.
stable
Eddie Howe is in no danger of being sacked, although the club sit in 14th place. If they stay there, questions may be raised about his ability to manage domestic and Champions League football after the season ends.
Scott Parker and David Moyes remain fit for Burnley and Everton respectively and should not be allowed to rest except after a disastrous performance that dramatically pushes their team into relegation. Similarly, Keith Andrews has made a good start at Brentford but needs to continue to prove himself in his first role in the top job.
Fulham want to sign Marco Silva to a new deal by the end of the year, but the Portuguese manager is yet to commit. The Cottage’s season hasn’t been a huge success and it will be interesting to see what happens if things continue like this.
Nuno Espirito Santo appears to have found his footing at West Ham, but Rob Edwards has had little time to settle down at Wolves. Both will know that employers can be ruthless.
under pressure
Manager Arne Slott, who won the league title last year, is not in danger of being sacked, but he is definitely under some pressure after losing six of his seven Premier League games. The Dutchman has been blamed for Liverpool’s dramatic decline in form.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has pushed Spurs far higher than last year’s 17th place. Although the loss to Arsenal and some substandard performances have not affected much love from fans, the club’s owners, the Luiz family, have made it clear that Frank’s appointment is part of a long-term project.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim needs to get results in this season without European football. The Portuguese coach is expected to return the Red Devils to a truly competitive team, with the Red Devils still producing performances of mixed quality.
Daniel Farke remains the bookmakers’ favorite for sacks. The Leeds manager had never left a team in the Premier League before, leading to speculation over his future in the summer. The Yorkshire club have fallen into the relegation zone after three consecutive defeats.
