Arsenal are six points clear at the top of the Premier League heading into Sunday’s clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge – a match that could decide the title race.
Chelsea legend John Terry believes his former club are the only team in the Premier League who can stop Arsenal from winning the title this season. Arsenal enjoyed a stunning 4-1 victory over Tottenham in the north London derby, with Mikel Arteta’s side now clear at the top of the table with six points.
Defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool at the weekend widened the gap between the Gunners and their most obvious opponents. City lost 2-1 to Newcastle and are currently in third place, seven points behind them, while defending champions Liverpool lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest at Anfield and are now 12th, 11 points behind.
The result leaves Chelsea as Arsenal’s closest challengers, with Enzo Maresca’s side beating Burnley 2-0 on Saturday to take second place. The Blues have won three consecutive league games without conceding a goal and will move within three points of Arsenal when they face Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Terry is happy with his former team. “The big game this weekend when Arsenal come to the Bridge is going to be a huge game,” the former defender said in a TikTok video. “I’m not saying it’s going to be a title game, but I think it’s going to be one of the two teams (to win the league).

“For me, Liverpool are 100 per cent out of the title race. Liverpool look like they are really struggling right now.” Arne Slott’s side have lost six of their last seven league games and are in the middle of a crisis, leaving the title race even more open.
Terry’s opinion differs from that of Jamie Carragher, who said at the weekend: “Arsenal are the only team that can stop Arsenal from winning the league. They are the best team. They are the best team. The only thing that can stop them is their own heads, their own mentality. Maybe this crowd would have been nervous in March and April, if the league had still won at that point.”
“This will be the game. If they don’t win, we’ll all point at them and say ‘you threw this away’. I don’t think that’s ever happened before. I always think there’s been teams in the Premier League that are slightly better than them, but that’s definitely not the case this season.”

Chelsea are gaining momentum on Saturday as they battled to beat Burnley thanks to goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandes. Terry said of their performance at Turf Moor: “It was a good away from the men’s team. It was really important to get the three points, especially after enduring a bit of pressure from Burnley in the first half.”
“I said they were going to try to attack us on the counter attack, and they definitely did that in the first half and we had three incredible blocks defensively. I think in the second half, the only thing for me was that we probably should have taken our chances, especially against a bigger and better team.”
