Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with Ebelesi Eze scoring a hat-trick as they dominated Spurs. The England international, who almost signed for Tottenham in the summer, took advantage of the opportunity to score three goals after Leandro Trossard’s opener.

Richarlison scored a fine goal to make it 3-1, and Eze’s hat-trick sealed a deserved victory for the hosts. Express Sport takes stock of Spurs’ players after their disastrous performance…

Tottenham vs Arsenal player ratings

Guglielmo Vicario – 6

He managed to block Rice’s early volley and deflected Saka’s free kick just after the half-hour mark. Nothing could stop Trossard from scoring. Despite having a body in front of him, he managed to touch Eze’s shot, but was unable to block it. Although he fell short of Eze’s second shot, he did save Saka’s curling shot with 20 minutes remaining. Although he fell short of Eze’s hat trick goal, he made a good save to prevent his fourth goal. Without the Italians, things might have been worse.

Kevin Danso – 3

Although he played on the right side of the back three, he was unable to stop Trossard’s shot from rolling behind him. He was substituted at half-time with Spurs trailing 2-0.

Cristian Romero – 4

The captain didn’t contribute much and his passes were often inaccurate.

Mickey Van de Ven – 5

Amidst the chaos of Spurs’ performance, there were some decent defensive moments, but they didn’t mean much. He played Mikel Merino onside and scored Eze’s third goal.

Jed Spence – 3

He struggled with Trossard on the side and never seemed to be in control.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 3

He struggled to establish himself in the midfield battle and looked sluggish at times. I received a yellow card in the first half.

Joan Parinha – 6

Despite having only been at the club for a few months, he seemed to be the only player who understood the importance of the derby. He tried to prove his presence in the center of the pitch against Arsenal’s midfield rivals and made a successful sliding tackle on Richarlison which led to the goal.

Destiny Udogi – 3

Caught out of position, Trossard played onside and scored Belgium’s first half goal. Saka gave him trouble almost every time he won.

Mohamed Kudus – 5

He appeared like a player who had been sidelined for several weeks. He showed some great touches, but didn’t get any progress on the ball.

Wilson Odbert – 3

He functioned as one of the attacking midfielders behind Richarlison, but lacked the physicality needed against Derby. There were few significant contributions.

Richarlison – 6

They had minimal possession in the first half and, with a few exceptions, struggled when they did. However, he gave Spurs a glimmer of hope with a stunning shot from near the center circle that sailed perfectly over Raya as she sprinted back. Earn 3 extra points depending on the quality of the goal.

substitute

Xavi Simmons – 5

Introduced for the second half. He tried to make things happen and after an hour he fired a shot at Raya that went wide.

Pape Matar Sar – 4

They brought some energy to the midfield, but they didn’t provide much quality.

Randall Kolo Muani – 4

He entered the fray from the left side, but could barely see the ball.

Pedro Polo – N/A

He came on in place of Spence in the closing stages, but failed to make an impact.

Brennan Johnson – N/A

He replaced Kudus on the pitch in the final stages, but had limited contact with the ball.
