Arne Slott’s Liverpool lost their sixth Premier League game in seven games to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with pressure mounting on the Dutchman.
Arne Slott has come under increased scrutiny following Liverpool’s slump to six defeats in seven Premier League games, but experts do not believe the Dutchman will be sacked during the title-winning season.
Slott, 47, enjoyed a dream-like maiden year in charge as he replaced Jurgen Klopp and led the Reds to Premier League glory. However, the former Feyenoord manager has endured a difficult start to the 2025-26 season, with Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest raising fresh concerns.
Liverpool, who spent £450m rebuilding their squad in the summer, have been largely operating with the team that Klopp left last season, and there are question marks over the slot.

But Martin Keown is adamant Slott will not be shown the door by Liverpool after the impact he made last year. “We have to give Forest credit, but certainly Arne Slott’s wheels are starting to fall off,” Keown told Final Score after the game.
“Obviously it’s Jurgen Klopp’s team, he came in and tried to make changes, but he spent £450m on players and they’re going backwards. They’ve just been undone. I don’t know if it’s a crisis, but six defeats in seven is certainly a big problem for a manager. It’s unthinkable.”
“I don’t think it’s possible to win the league one year and then be sacked the next,” added the former Arsenal defender.
“What we’re seeing with Liverpool is remarkable. Liverpool’s downfall and losing so many games at the start of the season, eight points off the top of the table, is really unthinkable from this time last season.”
Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp echoed similar sentiments on Sky Sports after Forest’s win, also noting the eventful summer slot and what the players endured. He said: ‘Looking at Liverpool now, this is what I expected to happen last season.
“After Jurgen Klopp left the club, I thought it would have a negative impact on the team, but that wasn’t the case. They did something completely extraordinary and won the league.
“I think it’s a time for patience, because they’re going to have the public, the pundits, everyone going crazy, saying, ‘Fire the manager.’ (Stay calm) Take your time and make sure you evaluate. It was the most difficult preseason imaginable for those players.”
