Liverpool fell to 11th in the Premier League with a miserable 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Saturday – and Arne Slott is feeling the pressure.
Arne Slott has admitted he needs to be held accountable for Liverpool’s appalling results. Saturday’s loss to Nottingham Forest means Liverpool have now lost six of their last seven Premier League games.
The Reds were aiming for the title with just four defeats in Slott’s debut season, but things have changed dramatically for the 2025/26 season. Forest dominated the match at Anfield and won 3-0, their second successive win at Liverpool’s home ground, and the Dutch side are currently 11th in the league with 18 points.
Murillo scored the opening goal from a set-piece, but Igor Jesus’ goal was ruled out by VAR for handball. Liverpool failed to make the most of the reprieve and Nicolò Savona made it 2-0 with a straight shot after half-time.
Slott tried to build momentum by bringing on Hugo Ekitike for Ibrahima Konate, but his team failed to respond and Morgan Gibbs-White put the exclamation point on Forest’s first away win of the season with a 3-0 win.

Slott is currently under increasing pressure from Liverpool supporters who are questioning his choices and tactical decisions. “It was another big disappointment. We started very well in the first 30 minutes. We conceded 1-0 and we didn’t play like we did in the first 30 minutes,” Slott told BBC Match of the Day.
“I don’t know (about the first goal). I heard it wasn’t offside, so there’s no debate if it’s not offside. We created the goal and were waiting to score. The set-piece changed everything and they scored twice.”
“If things go well or go bad, it’s my fault. We didn’t create enough. We tried to adjust some things, but it didn’t work out. We couldn’t score goals. You never know in this stadium. If you score goals, things can go well.”
When asked about Savona’s goal in the 46th minute, Slott added: “Of course it was damaging. It was already difficult to be 1-0 against a team that blocked everything. It’s very easy. In a few days we will play in the Champions League again and then we will have to play three Premier League games in a short space.”
“Keep your head up and work incredibly hard. We’re working hard every day. It always helps to have experienced, quality players. Things aren’t going well at the moment.”
Liverpool face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League at Anfield on Wednesday, before facing West Ham in the league on Sunday. This is the start of a relentless match that could put more pressure on the slot.
