Despite losing 3-0 to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, Liverpool remained in good form in the Premier League after goals from Murillo, Nicolo Savona and Morgan Gibbs-White.
Manager Virgil van Dijk criticized the way Liverpool lost against Nottingham Forest, lamenting, “We conceded too many easy goals.” The Reds captain was unable to prevent his team from losing by three goals.
Liverpool suffered their sixth defeat in the division on Saturday, leaving them 11th in the Premier League. The Reds struggled against Sean Dyche’s side, but the scoreline remained intact.
Van Dijk called on his team-mates to look in the mirror in order to turn the club’s fortunes around. The Dutch defender is keen for his team to put their talks into action, but admitted there was tension within the team after the home side fell behind.
The 34-year-old insisted he was not quitting, but admitted Arne Slott’s team’s bounce back will not happen overnight. The veteran wants the team to try harder.
In a brutally honest post-match interview, Van Dijk spoke about Liverpool’s defeat, the goals conceded and the fans who left Anfield early.

Coach Van Dijk said after the match, “We conceded too many easy goals.” “They clearly scored again from a set-piece. You can ask if he was in front of Alisson, but it counted, so we are 1-0 down. We were not good in terms of fighting, challenging and fighting. We rushed too much. It’s a very difficult situation at the moment.”
“There was tension after the goal, but not before. We tried to rush things, but that’s what people are when they are in a difficult moment. Having cleared the last game, at the end of the day we are in a very difficult moment. You can’t get out of it just by talking about it. It’s going to take a lot of effort.”
“That’s a problem. Everyone in the team has to take responsibility as well. Football is a team and everyone has to take responsibility. We have to digest this and take it seriously. We have to work harder. We have to keep moving forward.”
“Obviously everyone is disappointed, but losing at home to Nottingham Forest was a very poor result in my eyes, so that’s the least I can say about it.
“We have conceded goals far too easily and we all have to look in the mirror. I have been at this club for a long time and have experienced adversity.
“We’ll bounce back, but it’s not going to happen overnight. I’m not quitting and I’m going to keep going.
“I can’t judge what the supporters are doing if they leave early. I know the fans have been with us through the ups and downs. They will be with us when we get out of this, because we will get out of this.”
