Manchester United players are reportedly spending extra time on the training ground to maintain their momentum under manager Ruben Amorim. The team is making full use of Carrington’s state-of-the-art facility, which opened to the public in August.
The Sun reports that while United’s squad is scheduled to arrive for training at 9am each day, players instead arrive just after 8am and stay for several hours after training. The report shows that some players are making the most of the facilities on offer, spending up to seven hours per day, and are genuinely keen to be part of an improved environment.
The £50m refurbishment of the training ground includes an extension of the common area with a pool table, games room and barber shop. Players also have access to ice baths and saunas.
It has also been reported that some members of the squad even took advantage of improvements to the training ground on Sunday night following last month’s 2-1 win over Liverpool. They are said to have taken advantage of ice baths and saunas to begin their recovery for the next game.
United are back to form after a difficult start to the season, prompting speculation about Amorim’s future. However, such chatter has now subsided, with the team unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches.
After drawing 2-2 in their last two games, they will be keen to get back to winning ways when they welcome Everton to Old Trafford on Monday night (kick-off 8pm).
Speaking at the unveiling of the refurbished training complex, United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe declared: “World-class facilities alone won’t get us there, but I think it’s one of the key ingredients in the modern world.”
“I think we have a world-class training facility here now.
“I would like to thank Ruben and the sporting staff for their adaptability over the last 12 months. It has been a difficult year and we have not had the perfect training facility to put up with. I hope he enjoys his new home and I hope it helps Manchester United move in the direction we need to go.”
The announcement comes after it was recently revealed that supporters will have the opportunity to tour the upgraded facilities. Fans can pay £100 to take a four-hour tour of both Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground.
This experience includes a tour of the swimming pool, cafeteria, recovery zone, and press conference facilities, but photography is strictly prohibited.
