Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has a £65m release clause in his contract, which comes into effect from January, with several Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.
Antoine Semenyo has previously hinted that he would like to play for Arsenal, amid growing excitement over his future at Bournemouth. Semenyo, 25, will be allowed to leave the club in the January transfer window for £65m after it emerged that the new contract he signed just four months ago contained a release clause.
Bournemouth will be unable to stand in the forward’s way if the club activates his clause within the first two weeks of January and he wishes to leave. Semenyo has been one of the league’s standout players so far this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 12 games.
The London-born Ghanaian international has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham. United manager Ruben Amorim reportedly met Semenyo at the end of last season, before he turned down a move to Old Trafford and signed a new contract.
The former Bristol City star is probably looking forward to a move to the Emirates, revealing to The Athletic last year:
“It’s great to play against Arsenal, a team I’ve been watching all my life. I want to play at a top club too, and for that I need to prove it.”

Semenyo added: “That’s the goal of any team that plays in the Champions League or Europe (League). We know it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to take time.”
“It’s going to take goals. It’s going to take a lot of consistent performances. But I’ve been working towards that all my life and I’m going to continue to work hard. That’s my mentality.”

Bournemouth general manager Tim Bezbatchenko recently admitted it would be difficult to prevent Semenyo from joining an elite club. “When clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool and PSG come in and compete for Champions League spots, who are we to say, ‘No, you can’t go, you can’t make your dream come true’,” Bezbatchenko said on the Business of Sport podcast.
“No, it won’t be for every club, because not everyone is Real Madrid. But there’s a chance and everyone wins, right? I think that’s what we’re trying to find, this common ground where everyone can win.”
Arsenal do not have strong links with Semenyo at this stage, with the Gunners having invested in their attack over the summer. However, as the attacker says, with more goals and consistent performances, Mikel Arteta’s team could be knocked out.
