Everyone at Manchester United sends all their love to the family of a father-of-two who suffered ‘serious life-changing injuries’ after being hit by a car.
Mason Mount has rallied to support the family of a huge Manchester United fan who is fighting for his life after being hit by a car in Bolton. Mount sent a video message to Lewis Rimmer’s wife Sarah and two daughters Amelia and Madison.
He suffered “life-changing” injuries after being hit by a Range Rover. He has fallen into a coma and remains in hospital in a “serious condition”, his close friend Andy Tonge told the Manchester Evening News.
Tonge described the message as a “nice” gesture to the family. The Bolton News quoted him as saying: “They’re big Manchester United supporters so it’s nice to receive this. What a bloke.”

Mr Mount expressed his condolences and sadness after hearing what Mr Rimmer had gone through. He added: “Everyone at Manchester United is thinking of them and sending them all our love.”
A fundraising campaign set up by friends to support the family has already raised more than £100,000. Tonge told the man, “This incident seems to have had a big impact on people’s hearts.”
“It happened during half-term, and it shocked a lot of people because it could have easily been a kid that Lewis might not have been as strong as he’s proving. Many feel that Lewis’ strength and fight over the last few weeks hasn’t been noteworthy.”
“The fact that this incident happened at a local supermarket that many of us use reinforces the idea that this could happen to any of us.”
Tonge explained: “Unfortunately, three weeks later, Luis is still in a critical condition and remains in a coma. Sarah and his family are by his side every day and the fundraiser has really cheered them up.”
“Knowing that so many people care about them and want to support them has made a huge difference. When the time comes to make the necessary changes to our homes and daily lives, we will be able to focus on Lewis without the added pressure of financial worries.”
She added: “So many people have made donations, offered direct support to the family and sent positive thoughts and energy to Lewis.”
Ms Tonge added: “As a group of friends we have come together to support them and we all think this is incredible. Personally, I am proud to be from the North West.”
“This is our greatest community, rallied around ordinary men and their beautiful families. It’s hard to express our gratitude in words.”
