Manchester United have received a transfer petition from Daniel Munoz, with the Crystal Palace right-back admitting it would be a “dream” to play for the Red Devils. Ruben Amorim’s side have made a turnaround in recent weeks and could re-enter the transfer market in January after signing the likes of Brian Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesco in the summer.
Munoz has become a star in the Premier League since joining Palace from Genk early last year. The 29-year-old is known for his energetic performances and is often one of Palace’s most attacking players during matches, despite playing on the right. He played in 81 games with the Eagles, recording eight goals and 14 assists.
Muñoz is currently on international duty with Colombia, which will play a friendly against New Zealand on Saturday night, followed by a friendly against Australia in midweek.
And ahead of these matches, AS Colombia reported that he had named some of the top clubs he would like to play for.
“First of all, I think there’s a lot of talk about every club,” Munoz explained. “If you ask me, my dream would be to play for one of these clubs: Barcelona, PSG, Real Madrid, Manchester United.
“I think I’m working towards that. I’m working every day to get noticed by one of these clubs one day, because for me it’s a dream to get there.”
He added: “As far as I’m concerned, I don’t have any concrete information that any club is interested in me. My focus is Crystal Palace. We’ll find out when the winter transfer window approaches.”
Munoz’s contract at Selhurst Park does not expire until the summer of 2028, by which time he will be 32 years old.
However, Colombian outlet Semana has published a report suggesting that the talented player could be on the move long before then.
According to reports, informal conversations have been held with officials from Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Chelsea. However, Munoz has not made any formal proposal and the January transfer window is said to be extremely important for the player.
Muñoz made his international debut in the 2021 World Cup qualifier against Peru and has earned 42 caps for Colombia.
After the next few days of international action, the player is expected to return to England in time for next Saturday’s Palace Premier League game against Wolves. The Eagles have won four out of 11 league games this season and are currently in 10th place.
