Liverpool have endured a nightmare of results, dropping them eight points from top of the Premier League. The Reds have lost five of their last six league games and currently sit in eighth place.
Liverpool manager Arne Slott has been under increasing pressure in recent weeks but was helped by the Reds’ Champions League win over Real Madrid last week. The Merseyside giants suffered a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City on Sunday, with the Dutchman struggling to find a solution to his team’s recent woes. And Express Sport looks at four managers Liverpool could turn to if they decide to replace their current manager.
Oliver Glasner
Oliver Glasner has excelled as Crystal Palace manager since joining the club in February last year. The Austrian led the Eagles to the FA Cup with a win over Manchester City in May.
Glasner did his part despite not being able to spend the big bucks of the top Premier League clubs. He’s also been forced to contend with many of his best players leaving. So if you were given the opportunity to play against a team of Liverpool’s caliber, you would back him to take the team forward.
roberto de zerbi
Roberto de Zerbi is another successful manager who managed a club outside of England’s big six. The Italian led the Seagulls to back-to-back 11th place finishes in the Premier League and was appointed Marseille manager last year.
Marseille are France’s second strongest team under coach De Zerbi and are once again in the Champions League this season. And with the resources on offer at Anfield, he will be able to step up and build something special with the Reds.
Julian Nagelsmann
Julian Nagelsmann is currently in charge of the German national team after managing Bayern Munich for just under two seasons.
He has plenty of experience in big games and could be a safe pairing if given the top job at Anfield.
At 38 years old, he still has a lot to learn. But his arrival in the north west could send a statement to Liverpool’s biggest rivals.
Jurgen Klopp
If Liverpool can persuade Jurgen Klopp to return to the club as manager, it would be seen as a huge coup.
The German led the Reds to two Premier League titles, as well as Champions League and Club World Cup success during his nine-year stay on Merseyside.
Klopp has built a trusting relationship with his players and fans that is virtually impossible to replicate. And if he decides to return to the dugout, there will be plenty of celebrations at Anfield.
