Real Madrid have finalized a loan deal for Brazilian player Endrik to head to Lyon, despite a delay in contact from Manchester United, who had been seeking playing time at the Bernabéu.
Real Madrid are close to reaching an agreement with Lyon over the transfer of Endrick, who has failed to impress so far at the Bernabéu. Endrik has not made a mark at the Bernabéu so far, but is set to head to the French team on loan.
Los Blancos signed the Brazilian teenager from Palmeiras in 2022, but he did not move to Spain until 2024. Despite being highly rated, opportunities were at a premium and there was long talk of a move for him to aid his development, with a number of clubs across Europe keen on the young attacker.
However, Globo Esporte reports that Lyon are winning the race for his achievements, with a move being mooted in January. They currently sit seventh in Ligue 1, with manager Paulo Fonseca at the helm, and are hoping Endrik’s arrival will help them further strengthen their season to qualify for the Europa League.
Mirror Football revealed earlier this month that Aston Villa were monitoring Endrik’s situation, while Lyon also beat out competition from Manchester United, who have also made contact with Real over the possibility of signing the Brazilian. The Red Devils are currently evaluating their options following Benjamin Sesco’s injury and could be out for a long period of time, but Endrick is not expected to be signed.
Real and Lyon are working on a contract framework and the deal is not expected to be signed until closer to the January deadline. The Spanish giants plan to include a clause that would allow them to recall their players even in the event of an injury crisis.

Xabi Alonso previously ruled out a loan move for Endrik, but it appears he has changed his mind. The former Bayer Leverkusen manager also made it clear that the forward was unable to let his frustration get the best of him and take his chances when they finally came.
“It’s clear that everyone wants to play, and even more so if you’re a young player. Considering the situation, we want to play right away, but some games are difficult. He has to be patient, prepare and understand that he is at Real Madrid. His time will come,” he said.
Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo were the preferred front three for Real last season, but Rodrygo has fallen out of favor in recent months. Alonso is keen to have Endrik on the pitch but insists he hasn’t found the right time.
“Of course, we want him to play already. But the recent game situation has been very difficult since Endrik returned. I hope he can get that playing time soon. He has been training well and is ready, but the right moment has to come.”
