Bournemouth winger David Brooks welcomed his first child last month after his wife Flora gave birth. The 28-year-old revealed in June that he and Flora are expecting their first child. The Wales international said he feels incredibly lucky, especially considering he was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin’s lymphoma four years ago.

Brooks returned to football in March 2023 and became a key player for Bournemouth, helping the club establish themselves in the Premier League while pursuing their European ambitions. Off the field, Brooks and Flora are happily married, exchanging vows in North Yorkshire last summer.

Now their family has increased with the birth of a baby girl. Brooks posted an image of Lottie Elizabeth on Instagram on Tuesday of this week. “Our beautiful baby girl was born October 27, 2019, Lottie Elizabeth Brooks, a special addition to our family @florabrooks_, we love you,” he wrote in the caption.

Earlier this year, Brooks confessed that he was worried he might not be able to experience fatherhood, saying, “When I was diagnosed, I had those conversations, but there was no guarantee that I would be able to have children in the future.

“It could have been impossible. I was really lucky that it happened naturally. After the treatment, everything went back to normal. I’m really happy.”

“I’ve always wanted to have a family. My wife and I both knew we wanted to have children someday. In my situation it was out of my hands, so I’m so happy that everything happened naturally and we were able to become a family.”

“I’m really looking forward to it and I know my wife is too, even though she’s pregnant and going through a lot. I’m happy. I teared up a little bit, but I’m really looking forward to it now. It’s still a few months away, but I can’t wait.”

Brooks has featured in 11 games for Bournemouth this season, donning the captain’s armband a number of times and registering one assist.

The Cherries have started the season in great fashion but have won just two of their last seven games.

Brooks is currently focused on Wales’ World Cup qualifiers. With only two games remaining, they still have a chance to top Group J and earn automatic qualification.

However, if a place in the play-offs seems more realistic and Craig Bellamy’s side beat Liechtenstein away on Saturday, Tuesday’s home game against North Macedonia will essentially be a winner-take-all battle for second place and a play-off spot.

Wales are also hoping that the results of the other groups, particularly Poland, will be favorable and they hope to ensure they are among the top seeds when the play-offs begin in March.
