Fulham are reportedly considering Marco Silva’s future at Craven Cottage, with the Portuguese manager said to be reluctant to sign a new contract in the capital. The west London side sit just above the Premier League relegation zone after 11 games and lost 2-0 to Everton on Saturday.
Fulham had a great season under Silva last time out, finishing 11th in the league with 15 wins. However, life has become even tougher this season, with defeats to Chelsea, Bournemouth and Arsenal. And Express Sport are looking at four managerial candidates that Fulham could turn to if they decide to part ways with Silva, and talkSPORT claims that is a possibility.
Brendan Rodgers
Former Liverpool and Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers left Celtic last month and is currently unemployed.
The 52-year-old led Liverpool to very close to winning the Premier League title in 2013, but the Reds were ultimately denied silver by Manchester City.
Rodgers may be interested in trying again as a coach in England’s top flight, but his final season at Leicester was a struggle as the club were relegated at the end of the 2023/24 season after being sacked in April.
eric ten hag
Erik ten Hag has been sacked twice in less than a year after leaving Manchester United and losing his job at Bayer Leverkusen in early September. And he will be desperate to prove that he still has what it takes to be a successful manager.
The Dutchman led Ajax to three Eredivisie titles and went on to win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup with the Red Devils.
So he clearly knows what it takes to win a silver medal and Fulham could give him the perfect path back to English football.
liam rosenia
Liam Rosenior spent almost two years at Hull, leading the North East Side to seventh place in the Championship last season. Notably, he was sacked by the Tigers, who missed out on the play-offs, and was subsequently appointed manager of Strasbourg.
Strasbourg have started the season well, winning seven of their 12 games and sitting fourth in the Ligue 1 table.
And Rosenior has a reputation as an astute manager, so Fulham could be rewarded if they give him a chance.
michael carrick
Michael Carrick was another manager who showed his talent in the Championship. The former England midfielder, who was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s assistant at Manchester United, led Middlesbrough to the 2023 Championship play-offs and two other second-tier top 10 finishes. However, he was released by the club in the summer.
Carrick is a smart guy and he expressed his thoughts well when he appeared on Match of the Day 2 this season. And Fulham leaders may feel he can make an impact at Craven Cottage.
