Manchester United to sign Casemiro under important conditions | Soccer | Sports

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly willing to extend Casemiro’s contract if certain conditions are met. The veteran midfielder’s current contract is due to end on June 30, but United have an option to extend it by a year. Despite being linked with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia in the summer transfer window, Casemiro has revealed his intention to remain at Old Trafford and compete for a place in Amorim’s team.

The 33-year-old, who signed for £70m from Real Madrid in 2022, has done just that, securing his place alongside Bruno Fernandes as Amorim’s first choice in central midfield. Casemiro has contributed for United this season with three goals and one assist in 10 Premier League games. His performance also revived his career with the Brazilian national team, impressing national team manager Carlo Ancelotti.

When Casemiro joined United more than three years ago, he was given a contract worth around £350,000 a week. His high salary is often cited as a reason to let him go when his contract ends this summer.

However, according to talkSPORT, his performances this season have won him many supporters within the club, including Amorim himself, who is willing to keep him for another year. Casemiro is a popular member of the team, and his experience and leadership have been key to the team’s recent improvement in form.

Amorim is reported to be open to extending Casemiro’s contract, which turns 34 in February, provided he agrees to a pay cut. After last month’s 4-2 win against Brighton, Amorim praised Casemiro’s performance, saying: “I think he has a lot of experience. He’s an example for everyone.”

“Initially he was behind all the midfielders, including Toby (Collier). But he fought, worked and now he’s back in the national team. He’s very important for us.”

Before the draw with Tottenham, Amorim was asked about Casemiro’s situation. “Yeah, you never know what’s going to happen. My goal is to continue to believe that he has the same problem, along with Casemiro and Harry Maguire.”

“We don’t know what will happen. Let’s focus on this season. I’m really happy for Casemiro, he’s really important. I’m really happy for Harry, but I know what you want. Let’s focus on this season and then next season will come.”

Casemiro also talked about his future plans. “Soccer is my life, right? So it was inevitable (to continue),” he said.

“But my wife and family will want time for themselves, yes.

“I’m one of those people who think life needs a plan, but I’m interested in short-term goals. Of course you can’t avoid thinking about being in good shape for the World Cup, but you can’t expect to be in good shape for the World Cup if you haven’t done well with Manchester United.”
