Morgan Rodgers has signed a new contract with Aston Villa that will keep him at the club until 2031.

The England international joined Villa Park from Championship side Middlesbrough last year and made 86 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and providing 20 assists.

The 23-year-old is starting to make an impact on the international stage, winning 10 caps since making his England debut in November 2024.

The versatile star will be hoping to cement his place in Thomas Tuchel’s FIFA World Cup squad.

Rodgers said Villa Park is his “home” after putting pen to paper on his new contract.

“It’s home,” he said. “Being from this area, it makes it a little bit sweeter, but everyone here, the coaches, the players, the staff, everyone here has been so warm and welcoming every day.

“I’m excited to come here and train and work hard and give it my all every day. I’m really enjoying it.

“The most important thing for me is to enjoy football and be able to express myself. There’s no reason why I wouldn’t want to stay here.”

Villa had a difficult start to the 2025/26 Premier League season, but have turned things around in recent weeks and are currently sixth in the table.

They capped off a remarkable comeback on Sunday with a 4-0 victory over highly-rated Bournemouth.

After the international break, they will face Leeds United at Elland Road.

Rodgers spent his career at West Bromwich Albion before joining Manchester City.

He went on loan to Lincoln City, Bournemouth and Blackpool before the Premier League giants decided to sell him to Middlesbrough.

The Aston Villa favorite has represented England at every age group since making his debut for the Under-15s.

Rodgers had been linked with a move to multiple Premier League teams before signing his contract extension with Villa.

The West Midlands club also competed in this season’s UEFA Europa League and are currently sixth in the league phase table.

Rodgers was named PFA Young Player of the Season for his outstanding performances in the 2024/25 season.
