Roy Keane had some solemn words for the Reds after Liverpool’s title-defending side suffered yet another brutal blow after being torn apart by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Manager Roy Keane believes Liverpool are in crisis after slamming their game against Manchester City as “really weak”. The Reds were torn apart by their former title rivals at the Etihad Stadium.
Erling Haaland had already missed a penalty to give City the lead, but Virgil van Dijk’s equalizer was ruled out for offside. Nico Gonzalez doubled the lead with a deflected shot, and the impressive Jeremy Doku rounded out the scoring in the second half.
The comeback was Liverpool’s fifth of the season, after losing only four games all of last season. They are now 8th in the standings, already 8 points behind current leaders Arsenal.
Assessing Liverpool’s current form, Keane insists Arne Slott’s side are currently in a full-blown crisis. He told Sky Sports: “I think it’s a crisis period for Liverpool. They know they can lose at Man City and we know it’s a difficult place to come to and Man City are showing signs of getting back to their best.”
“But this season we have already lost seven out of 10 games and five in the league. It must be a crisis for a club like Liverpool.

“I think his assessment of today’s game was spot on. I think it was fair. Yes, the decision went against them, but overall City looked stronger, better technically and much better physically than Liverpool today.”
“I thought Liverpool were a really weak team today. Of course they still had chances, their quality is there and they can still cause problems for the team.”
“But defensively, the goals they’re giving, the decisions they’re giving. I’ll go back to that word, lack of intensity, lack of energy. They’re chopping and changing and bringing in subs, but they looked really flat.”

“I know what Gary said there. The manager was happy with the second half but the game is over. The game is over. It’s very easy for the other team to let off the gas and play a couple of miles down. They got Forest after the international break and Forest are fighting for their lives.”
Defeat against Forest could make things very unpleasant for Liverpool and Slot. That could potentially put them in the bottom half of the Premier League and would be a terrible return for the club considering the huge amount of money the Reds spent in the transfer market.
