A fundraiser has been set up for Nottingham Forest supporter Stephen Crean after he was stabbed as he bravely tried to stop a knifeman during the Huntingdon train attack.
Nottingham Forest have donated £10,000 to heroic supporter Stephen Crean, who was stabbed six times while bravely trying to stop a knifeman during the Huntingdon train attack. Mr Crean, 61, was involved in the incident on his way back to south-west London after watching Forest’s 2-2 draw at home to Manchester United on Saturday.
When a man starts stabbing people indiscriminately, Hero Clean confronts the assailant and is injured. He has knife wounds to his head, back and hands. Mr Crean’s bravery has been praised nationally and a ‘Just Giving’ page has been set up to raise money for him.
His beloved Forest are now working together at the request of owner Evangelos Marinakis, who has promised to help cover the medical costs of supporters injured in the attack. As well as donating £10,000 to the fundraiser, the Premier League club has also offered Crean a free season ticket for the 2026-27 season, according to talkSPORT.
Forest also invited him to travel with the team to the Europa League match on a private charter and stay at the team hotel before watching the match with the club’s delegation in the director’s box. The fundraiser’s original target of £500 was smashed, reaching a staggering £47,561 in just three days.
The Just Giving page description says: “His selfless actions likely saved lives. Our thoughts are with Steve, his family, and everyone else involved in this incident.”

“Steve has been a regular at Forest home and away games for many years and is well known among our fan base. This page has been set up by a group of Forest fans who know Steve and would like to provide financial support while he recovers from his injury.”
In a statement released on Sunday, Marinakis said: “Everyone at Nottingham Forest is shocked and deeply saddened by what happened. The courage and selflessness shown by our supporters on that train represents the best of humanity and the club’s community.”
“We will ensure that those involved in this incident receive the best possible medical care and all necessary financial support as they recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.”
Mr Crean recalled the terrifying ordeal and said he “didn’t have much of a choice” but to fight back with the knifeman on the LNER flight from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. The 61-year-old said he managed to get into the toilet on the train after the collision and before armed police arrived at Huntingdon station.
“Do you want to die?” Crean remembers her attacker asking her “about three times.” Anthony Williams, 32, of Peterborough, was charged Monday with 10 counts of attempted murder.
