Hertha Berlin prodigy Kennett Eichhorn is said to be attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Liverpool and Manchester United are monitoring the progress of German prodigy Kennett Eichhorn, who Hertha Berlin are willing to sell for £17 million. Eichhorn, 16, broke into Hertha’s first team this season and is making waves in Berlin.
The defensive midfielder has made eight appearances in Germany’s second division and has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly sent scouts to monitor Eichhorn.
Premier League players are also regulars at the Olympiastadion. Liverpool, United, Arsenal and Manchester City are said to have started scouting for the player.
German newspaper Bild, via Mundo Deportivo, reported that Hertha have already informed interested parties that they will consider an offer worth 20 million euros (approximately 1.7 billion yen). Eichhorn missed his chance to break into the first team due to injury, but has managed to maintain his place thanks to a series of impressive performances.
Teammate Fabian Rees praised the 16-year-old after his debut: “He’s an incredibly talented talent.” “If he continues like this, all the doors will open for him. I’ve rarely seen such a talented player at that age. He has a big career ahead of him.”

Manager Stefan Lytle also said after the game: “I didn’t care if he was 16 or 17. He’s a big talent for Hertha. You can see from a lot of his actions what we expect from him in the coming years. I have complete faith in his abilities. He’s done a great job.”
Eichhorn signed a new contract in July and has been compared to former Germany star Toni Kroos for his ability to control the tempo of matches. Kroos’ younger brother Felix has urged him to stay at Hertha for another two to four years and help the club return to the Bundesliga.
In an interview with RTL, Kroos explained: “That’s the beauty of football. There’s no one right path, no magic formula. Still, Eichhorn, 16, is a special case and should stay in his familiar surroundings.”

“That’s what got him to where he is now. It would be too soon for him to move to Bayern or (Borussia) Dortmund in the next two to four years. I hope he develops for a few more years at Hertha. After all, you can’t plan anything in football.”
“If things go well and Eichhorn stays for a few more years, that 6 million (euro) could become 60 million, which would be even better for the Berlin books. And with the amount of money in circulation today, 6 million is too little anyway.”
He added: “The way Eichhorn plays is remarkable. He exudes calmness, has valuable experience and is forgiving of his mistakes. He has quality, but he is still absent from time to time. Such young players have to be rested, because it is mentally taxing.”
