Inter Miami star Lionel Messi is being considered for a January move ahead of the MLS season, which ends in December, if the Argentina international reaches the finals.
Galatasaray are hoping to secure a monumental deal by signing Lionel Messi on loan from Inter Miami in January. A sensational report in Turkey claims that the Super Lig giants want to sign Major League Soccer stars to provide football ahead of the World Cup.
Messi recently signed a contract extension with Inter Miami, committing him until the end of the 2028 season when he will turn 41. It is plausible that this is the last contract for the soccer legend before he calls an end to his career. But there may still be a final twist to the legendary forward’s incredible career.
It has emerged that the Argentina international could add another club to his repertoire if he is willing to accept an offer from Galatasaray, with Fotomac reporting that the veteran player is being closely monitored by the team’s leadership.
It has been suggested that the offer could be attractive to Messi as he looks to ensure his fitness for next year’s World Cup in the United States. MLS will soon enter its postseason break, and there is a possibility that Messi may temporarily leave the club.

Inter Miami hopes to play until December 6th, when the MLS Cup final will be held. They are currently participating in the tournament playoffs after the regular season. Messi’s team has traded wins with Nashville SC and will play in a deciding match this weekend for a place in the first round. The Florida-based team qualified for the playoffs in third place in the Eastern Conference behind Philadelphia and Cincinnati, and Messi is MLS’ leading scorer with 32 goals.
Messi will not play domestic soccer from December until at least March. Galatasaray wants to take advantage of that.
Messi’s £15m annual salary at Miami, funded by Adidas and Apple, could be an exorbitant sum for any suitor, but Galatasaray have not been afraid to splash the cash in recent months. They signed Viktor Osimhen for a record £65 million, handing him a weekly wage of £250,000.
Leroy Sane has secured a contract worth around £7.6 million a year, while Ilkay Gundogan arrives in Istanbul for around £4 million a year. However, Messi’s arrival will add weight to Okan Buruk’s side.
The 2022 World Cup winner is already considering retirement. After receiving the keys to the city of Miami, Messi admitted that he is thinking about his next step.
“I’ve had a very long career in sports, and I still do, and I’ve always had people around me that I trust to take care of those things. But lately, I’ve become more interested in what’s going on and what can be done. Unfortunately, football has an expiration date. At some point, it comes to an end,” he said.
“I like to start thinking about what’s next. I like the business world. I want to keep learning. I’m just getting started,” he said. “I have always been 100% dedicated to my profession, but I know that something else is coming, a different world, and I am getting involved little by little.”
