Manchester United are reportedly preparing to spend big in the upcoming January transfer window. The Red Devils strengthened their squad with four new signings over the summer, bringing Brian Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Ramens to Old Trafford. Despite these new additions, it appears United are not done shopping yet, with further additions expected in January.
One name that has been linked with a move to Manchester is Palmeiras’ Vitor Roque. According to Sport, United are prepared to make a £44m bid for the 20-year-old forward. Roque, who previously played for Barcelona and Real Betis, joined Palmeiras earlier this year. Just a few months later, he is being tipped as a possible addition to Ruben Amorim’s United squad.
As the January transfer window approaches, the CIES Football Observatory has released details of Roque’s current market value. The young forward is said to be worth up to £77m, a figure significantly higher than United’s rumored offer.
It remains to be seen whether there is any truth to these rumors, or if United’s name is simply being used to stir up transfer speculation.
Either way, it’s clear Roke has a promising future and only time will tell if his path leads to Old Trafford.
Unless Joshua Zirkzee leaves in January, it is unlikely that a striker like Roque will be given the green light. Sesco has become the new first-choice striker this season and is finding it difficult to get on the pitch.
However, even if Sesco is rested or substituted, the likes of Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount are expected to play centrally in contrast to Zirkzee.
The Dutch international has been linked with West Ham and other clubs across Europe and is thought to want to leave on loan or on a permanent contract.
