Liverpool are currently without several players due to injury ahead of their Champions League match against Real Madrid.
Despite beating Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday night, Liverpool are still dealing with a number of injuries in their squad. The victory ended a four-game losing streak in the top flight and moved the Reds into third place in the Premier League table heading into Sunday’s game.
Arne Slott will face Real Madrid in the Champions League this week, before heading to Manchester City for the big Premier League showdown next weekend. The visit to the Etihad Stadium will be Liverpool’s last match before the November international break.
However, the reigning Premier League champions are currently without several players due to injury, a situation that could continue when they travel to Manchester next weekend. Ryan Gravenbirch returned from an ankle injury on Saturday night and scored his team’s second goal in the win at Anfield.
But Slott’s side will be without several other key squad members as they prepare for their midweek clash with Madrid. Here at Mirror Sport, we take a closer look at Liverpool’s current injury list and his chances of a return.

alexander isak
Alexander Isak has missed Liverpool’s last three games due to a groin injury sustained in last month’s Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Isak has yet to resume training and it remains unclear whether the Sweden international will be able to play before the international break.
Asked about the injuries to Isaac and Curtis Jones during Friday’s press conference, Slott said: “Timescale? As I’ve said many times, things can slow down or speed up in the final stages of an injury. We’ll see.”
Expected return date: November 22nd (H) – Nottingham Forest
curtis jones
Curtis Jones has missed Liverpool’s last two games due to injury and is yet to resume training.
Slott is expected to provide an update on Jones’ fitness ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League match against Real Madrid.
Expected return date: November 22nd (H) – Nottingham Forest
Jeremy Frimpong
Jeremy Frimpong has missed Liverpool’s remaining three games with a hamstring injury.
A return date has not been announced and it remains unclear whether the Dutch international will return before the international break.
“Jeremy is not in a good situation,” Slott said last month. “What I’m saying is he’s definitely not going to be able to play today, tomorrow, next week. He’s got a hamstring injury so it’s going to take some time.”
Expected return date: November 22nd (H) – Nottingham Forest
Alison Becker
Alisson Becker suffered a hamstring injury last month, which forced the goalkeeper to miss Liverpool’s last six games.
With matches against Real Madrid and Manchester City looming, it remains to be seen whether Alisson will return before or after the international break.
Earlier this week, Alisson posted a post on Instagram while wearing Liverpool training kit with the caption: “Step by step.”
Expected return date: November 22nd (H) – Nottingham Forest
Giovanni Leoni
Giovanni Leoni had a difficult start to his career at Liverpool after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament on his Carabao Cup debut against Southampton last September.
The £26m summer signing from Parma is expected to be back in top form next year and is expected to be sidelined for several months.
Expected return date: Summer 2026
