Mohamed Salah spoke openly and honestly about how he feels about playing at Anfield after Liverpool regained victory against Aston Villa.
Mohamed Salah says he won’t take it for granted that he will play for Liverpool after his historic goal against Aston Villa. The Egyptian has endured a tough start to the season, coinciding with the Reds’ recent poor form.
The Merseysiders defeated Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield, ending a four-game losing streak in the Premier League. Salah took the lead just before half-time, reacting to a poor pass from Emiliano Martinez and slotting the ball into a nearly empty net.
This was a move that equaled Wayne Rooney’s record for most Premier League goals for a single club. He also became the Reds’ seventh all-time leading scorer, alongside Roger Hunt and Ian Rush.

Throughout this season, Salah has looked visibly unhappy on the pitch. At times, they appeared to be struggling in the process of adapting to the additions of Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
However, after contributing to his 277th goal, he revealed he is still enjoying his time on Merseyside. When asked after the game about the draw level between Hunt and Rush, he replied: “(I feel) great.
“It’s a great feeling to score goals and win trophies for such a big club. I don’t take it for granted. I’m very happy and very proud.”
Ryan Gravenbirch went on to score a crucial second goal for the Reds, completing the win against Unai Emery’s side. With this result, Liverpool moved into third place in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Arsenal.
They have an important match against Real Madrid in the Champions League and a big away trip to Manchester City in the Premier League. Asked about the importance of the win against Villa, he said: “Yes, it was very important.
“We have lost a few games in the Premier League and the Champions League, but now we are starting to come back.
“It was a good win before very important games against Real Madrid and Manchester City. It was a very important win for us.”
Asked if he was satisfied with his performance, which included five goals and three assists in 14 appearances, Salah replied: “No, I said first.
“But I know football and have played football for many years. This is a very volatile season for us because we have some new players and we have very good contracts, but they need time to adapt to the team.”
“And we lost some good players. All we need is time to adapt and learn each other’s games. I think we’ll be fine.”
