Wolves have fallen to the bottom of the Premier League without a win thanks to the performances of Daniel Farke and Scott Parker, and at the weekend they decided to sack Vitor Pereira.
Liverpool’s win over Aston Villa on Saturday eased the pressure on Arne Slott and ended a four-game losing streak, but Leeds’ loss to Brighton has raised questions about Daniel Farke.
Los Blancos suffered a crushing defeat at the Amex, with the German manager becoming the bookmakers’ favorite in the sack race. Vitor Pereira was at the top of that list after going winless in the first 10 games of the season, but Wolves pulled the trigger at the weekend.
With several other clubs now down, they are bottom of the table and without a manager. West Ham’s victory consolidates the situation with the Hammers in 18th place, just five points behind Newcastle in 13th place.
Nuno Espirito Santo is by no means a man out of water and doesn’t have the immediate impact he would have liked. Nottingham Forest recently signed Sean Dyche and fought to a draw with Manchester United, but they remain in the bottom three.
It ended a three-game winning streak for Ruben Amorim, who has enjoyed perhaps the most pressure-free week of his tenure as United climb up the table in recent weeks.

It was a memorable weekend for Thomas Frank, who watched Tottenham lose to Chelsea. The Blues won away, but boos rang out at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after several players refused the manager’s request for fans to applaud. This downward spiral may come as a surprise to some, considering the team is in fifth place.
Safe as home
On the other side of North London, the atmosphere doesn’t get any more disgusting. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal ended the weekend with a six-point advantage over Manchester City after beating Burnley on Saturday. Despite some early criticism, they look imperious and are increasingly favored to win the title.
Manager Josep Guardiola will be delighted to see his team bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Villa and move into second place. Bournemouth suffered a rare defeat, but Andoni Iraola continues to pull off miracles that keep the Cherries in the top four.
Despite the noise around the slot, there was never any danger that Liverpool were considering a change. His counterpart on Saturday, Unai Emery, remains the man Villa trust for their immediate future, while newly promoted Sunderland can attribute much of their excellent start to the season to manager Regis Le Bris.
Crystal Palace got back to winning ways by defeating Brentford at the weekend, with Oliver Glasner still in excellent form for the Eagles.
not completely safe
Amorim may have enjoyed a resurgence at the peak of his victory at Liverpool, but questions remain over his suitability for Manchester. He is still attached to his system and beliefs, and when the results start going against them again, the noise gets louder again.
David Moyes is a safe move and, although unfashionable, often delivers results. However, his Everton team is not on the rise, and if they are on the verge of a decline, he could receive unwanted attention. The same can be said for Eddie Howe, with Newcastle losing four of their 10 games.
It has been a less than ideal summer, but while he has overseen steady growth, there is always a feeling that the Saudi owners want to move towards lofty ambitions.
Tottenham and Chelsea have shown themselves to be in a tough spot, so nothing is out of the question when it comes to Frank and Enzo Maresca, with the latter outperforming the former at the weekend. London’s other manager, Marco Silva, is out of contract with Fulham this summer, and one wonders whether the two sides feel they have had enough to work together.
certainly in danger
Nuno’s win against Newcastle was much needed by the Hammers as the discomfort at the London Stadium continued to grow. Burnley’s defeat means they are close to being in the relegation zone, and Scott Parker has been relegated in the past and that will trouble him.
The same can certainly be said about Falke. He beat Norwich a few years ago but struggled again shortly after. He was chained to the exit door before a ball was kicked, but had enough integrity to remain in the job after winning the championship.
Leeds weren’t very good against Brighton and need to show more grunt in the game if they want to maintain their top spot. The recent defeat against Burnley will only hurt Falke’s standing.
