Marc Göch believes a move to Liverpool has fallen through at the end of the summer, while Crystal Palace manager Steve Parish has announced a new view on the move amid interest from Bayern Munich.
Steve Parish has admitted that Mark Guehi is now free to choose any club of his choice after his move to Liverpool fell through. The England defender was close to a move to Anfield in the closing stages, but Crystal Palace decided to pull him out on deadline day.
As it stands, Guehi is set to leave Selhurst Park on a free transfer when his contract expires. Liverpool have always been linked with a transfer, with German giants Bayern Munich recently said to be interested.
Palace chairman Steve Parish has given a new view on Guehi’s future, admitting the Eagles couldn’t afford to make the money and believes Guehi has a choice as to where he moves next.
Speaking on the Men in Blazers podcast, he said: “We looked at it quite analytically in terms of what we think of Marc’s value in terms of his place in the Premier League. Obviously, how that affects that mentality, that ethos, that belief system, all those indefinable things.”
“So, what’s the good? What’s the bad? It was a very last-minute decision. Mark was great about it as a human being.

“They had made an offer. It was Liverpool. They were a huge club, so he was obviously interested in moving. But if that was our decision, he had no problem staying.”
“Obviously, that means as a player the ball is all in his court and he has a choice of where he wants to go. It was a very difficult game, but I think it was definitely the right game.”
He added: “That’s why we had to keep Marc, because the difference between having a great season and having a season where we risk relegation is the difference between winning five games and not winning five games.”

“So the gap in the Premier League is very tight and we have to remember that Michael (Olise) is gone, we are fine, Ebusu (Eberechi Eze) is gone, we are fine, Wilfred is gone, we are fine. There is a limit to how long you can go on like that before it collapses the structure of the team.”
Palace have made a strong start to the season since deciding to keep Guehi. They are 10th in the Premier League and defeated Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield to book their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
The loss was just the latest in a string of poor performances for manager Arne Slott’s Reds. They have lost six of their last seven games in all competitions.
