Marcus Rashford has flourished at Barcelona since leaving Manchester United, who fell out of the competition under manager Ruben Amorim. The striker’s future looked bleak when Amorim suggested he was better off choosing a 63-year-old goalkeeping coach as he felt there was insufficient commitment. The England star, who showed promise during his loan spell at Aston Villa in the second half of last season, has made a strong impression in Spain since his summer loan move.
He has five goals and seven assists in 13 games in all competitions, but was unable to prevent Barcelona’s loss to arch-rivals Real Madrid on Sunday. But Rashford’s commitment remained unwavering during his brief visit to Manchester this week. Taking to Instagram, he shared multiple clips of himself training at Salford’s Performance Space gym.
Along with the video, the striker wrote, “I was able to return home for 48 hours to the limit.”
Meanwhile, in a recent conversation with Barcelona’s official YouTube channel, Rashford revealed that he is happy with life in Spain.
He said: “I’m really enjoying my time in Spain. The weather is great. It’s a huge change. I’m learning every day and I’m really enjoying it.”
“I want to be here for a long time. I’m very close to Rooney (Bulge), Jules (Kounde) and Frenkie (De Jong). We’re a team where everyone fits together. We’re united.”
“The team is great. I just need to be in the right position. I’ll keep working. I have to keep going to do my best. We have a lot of work to do this season.”
He added: “I enjoy this football club and for anyone who loves football I think Barcelona is one of the most important clubs in the history of football, so it’s an honor to play here.”
“I just believe that things happen as they are meant to happen. This is not the first time I have talked to Barcelona about the possibility of coming here. But for whatever reason, it didn’t happen in the past. Now is the chance to make it happen.”
“I feel like there’s never been a better time than right now. People forget, but 23 years of my life were spent at Manchester United, so sometimes you need a change.”
“I think that’s probably the case for me. Yeah, I’m enjoying everything. I don’t feel like there’s been a huge change in me. I just feel like it’s a new environment and culture and I was looking forward to coming here.”
“It’s important to adapt and fit in as much as possible. I’m very hungry to keep improving.”
