Ruben Amorim is looking to turn things around at Manchester United with three wins on the spin – the first time he has put together any sort of run since replacing Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford hotseat
Ruben Amorim has been told to ignore the opinions of former greats if he wants to succeed as Manchester United manager. That’s the view of Benni McCarthy, who was part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching team at Old Trafford when the Dutchman was sacked.
McCarthy believes United’s size overwhelmed Ten Hag in the end. And the former South African Blackburn striker believes Amorim must continue to believe in himself and ignore all the noise around him.
He said: “I think the biggest challenge any manager faces is the size of the club. Manchester United is a huge club. I think any news about United is big news, whether we think it’s irrelevant or not. There’s a tremendous amount of pressure in your job as a manager and the leader of United.”

McCarthy, a former Premier League star who shone at Blackburn Rovers, admits that when it comes to United, you have to understand that the club will be in the headlines and be the talk of the town no matter what.
He continued to tell BestBettingSites: “Manchester United are a huge club and I think everyone wants to say something about United because they know it’s going to be big news.” “It would be in the headlines because of the size of the club. You know, we felt that way within the club.
“What we did in response was to take control of everything ourselves and accept what people were saying about United.
“We tried to do it the best way we could and try to make it positive and fun for everyone who was part of the club at the time. We didn’t really care about the outside noise.”
“But certainly, it affects people and it reaches people. When there are so many voices from the outside and trying to achieve something.
“Even now, if you watch a United game, everyone has something to say about Ruben Amorim. I love that he is tough and blocks everything out. He does his job the way he wants to do it.
“That’s why he was brought to the club because of his abilities and the club supports him.
“Everyone else out there, let him talk, and he’s going to keep working and slowly but surely starting to pay off.”
