Manchester United beat Brighton at Old Trafford, with forward Matheus Cunha scoring the winner. The Brazilian player was satisfied with his contribution.
Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha was told to “enjoy” after scoring his first goal for the Red Devils en route to a Premier League victory over Brighton. The Brazilian forward had been eager to get on the scoresheet before the match, but found it difficult to find the words after achieving his dream.
United spent £200m to replenish their front line in the summer transfer window, signing Cunha from Wolves and also adding Benjamin Sesco and Brian Mbeumo. Cunha’s teammates have already been sidelined this season, and the 26-year-old was keen to join them.
Attacking star Ruben Amorim opened the scoring at Old Trafford as his side held off a late Seagulls comeback to win 4-2 at home. The team has defeated Liverpool and Sunderland in their last two games, making it their third consecutive win.
Cunha seems to have already formed a bond with his attacking colleagues, who are thrilled to see him swinging the net. For the forward, it’s great to be a part of it.
“It’s difficult to say anything right now,” Cunha admitted. “I have worked hard for this, this is a club and this performance needs to be common and normal.

“I’m very happy to be part of this. I dreamed of it a lot, my first goal here at Old Trafford, but of course the win is much more important.”
“I joked with Brian (Mbeumo) and (Benjamin) Sesko and said I had to have this feeling (to score). I was so nervous going into this game, and when I scored, they were like, ‘Look, you can enjoy it now.'” I’m really happy to be a part of this because I support my teammates all day long. ”
United manager Amorim was also delighted to see Cunha’s goalscoring record, but revealed that the star’s performance was nonetheless a huge achievement. The Portuguese coach wholeheartedly praised the Brazilian team’s efforts.

“I think everyone felt it against Liverpool, but the harder the game gets, the more confident he becomes and the more he wants responsibility,” Amorim said in a press conference.
“I really liked the way he defended today. He didn’t jump the whole time. He didn’t jump or get back into position without proper pace. (He) defended really well today.”
“And when he has the ball, I don’t worry about it. When Matthäus has the ball, I don’t worry about anything. He was struggling with not being able to score. He might try to hide, but I understand.”
“He was really happy, but I think it’s not just Matthäus. I think everyone understood very well how to win against a very good team.”
