Manchester United transfer target Carlos Baleva visits Old Trafford with Brighton on Saturday in a hastily-deleted Instagram post that could interest Ruben Amorim and club executives
Carlos Baleva has deleted a social media post confirming transfer speculation regarding him and Manchester United ahead of Brighton’s trip to Old Trafford. All eyes will be on Baleva when the Seagulls take on United in the Premier League on Saturday night.
United host Fabian Hürzeler’s side with two wins and Ruben Amorim will be hoping to continue their new momentum. The home side will also be keeping an eye on Brighton midfielder Valeva, who they failed to sign during the summer.
Brighton had received interest from United in the Cameroonian international, but their high bid effectively thwarted their rivals’ pursuit and the move was slow to progress. They offered more than £100m, but the £115m signing of Moises Caicedo from Chelsea set the bar high.
However, the opportunity to impress Amorim is not lost on him as Baleva is reportedly keen on a move from Brighton to United in the future. Hürzeler had to answer questions about the midfielder in his pre-match press conference, so he probably wasn’t amused by his Instagram post.

The 21-year-old shared a graphic of himself promoting Saturday’s 5.30pm match to his followers, with the caption: “Coming to Old Trafford” and a crying-laughing emoji. Aware of the potential backlash for what he said, he quickly deleted the post and reposted it without the sarcastic caption, but before his fans discovered it.
Baleva has not been at his best this season, but he improved his form in last weekend’s match between Brighton and Newcastle United, earning him praise from his manager.
“I saw Carlos Baleva step up,” Hürzeler told Sky Sports. “These were good behaviors that he showed, good behaviors. But he has to make habits out of those good behaviors because that’s the next step in his development and bringing consistency to his performance.”
“For me, it is always important to be transparent with the players. I have a very good relationship with Carlos. We speak regularly and keep in touch. I always share my thoughts on his development and my thoughts on his performances.”

Brighton are no strangers to big clubs looking to poach players and know Baleva is likely to be on the agenda towards the end of the season. “I don’t think Baleva is a legend,” Brighton chairman Tony Bloom told The Argus earlier this month.
“There was interest from Manchester United and we said he wouldn’t be available this summer and then they left. So there have been a lot of big stories before. But Carlos Baleva, his development has been immense. He’s a very important player for this football club and we’re very happy that he’s with us this season.”
