Mason Greenwood caught the eye of Barcelona scouts while in France and could be reunited with Marcus Rashford, who impressed at Marseille this season, in Spain.
Mason Greenwood could be reunited with former Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford after impressing Barcelona scouts with four goals in Marseille’s 6-2 win over Le Havre last weekend.
Greenwood became Marseille’s first player to score four goals in a league match since Jean-Pierre Papin in 1991. And his performances attracted attention overseas, with Barcelona scouts noting the former England striker’s four-goal salvo.
The 24-year-old has starred for Les Fosens since his £26.6 million move from Old Trafford, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 11 games this season. According to The Sun, Greenwood’s performances have led to Barcelona considering a future move, but this could be big news for Manchester United, who will be entitled to 50 per cent of the proceeds.
Like Greenwood, Rashford also found success away from Old Trafford. The England international could potentially turn his loan to Barcelona into a permanent deal at the end of the season, and he certainly hopes that happens.

The pair played together 85 times for United, scoring a combined eight goals in that period. They will be hoping for further success at the Camp Nou.
Greenwood has performed well in France following his loan move to Getafe, but Roberto de Zerbi still has high hopes for his forward. He echoed that after watching Greenwood’s incredible goalscoring feat, but also gave some praise to the forward’s methods. “It’s true that Mason can do more, and not just in terms of scoring, because he doesn’t need to be better in that area,” De Zerbi said.
“He is already a top player in front of goal, but his ability could make him one of the best players in the world.
“He can improve by helping the team when and when needed. But I want to protect Mason from criticism. He always scored a lot of goals and never missed a training session. But he still has room for improvement.”
Greenwood has been regularly linked with Barcelona since his time at United. The La Liga giants have been keeping an eye on the forward, who has impressed in Spain with 10 goals and six assists for Getafe.
