Victoria Beckham made an unforgettable impact at her husband’s birthday party following his blockbuster move to Los Angeles Galaxy. David Beckham shocked the football world when he joined the Galaxy in 2007.
The former England captain made a surprise move to Major League Soccer from Real Madrid, signing a five-year contract. Beckham’s landmark move saw other big-name players, including Three Lions legends Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney, follow suit and pave the way for him to cross the Atlantic towards the end of his career. The Beckhams relocated to Los Angeles, where they combined their sports dreams with the world of celebrity. Although David found it difficult to achieve immediate success at his new club, Victoria quickly became popular off the field.
Former Galaxy striker Carlos Pavon’s son has given us a glimpse into how Victoria threw herself into her family’s American adventure. The Honduran forward was with the Galaxy throughout David’s debut season, and his son Carlos Pavón Jr. fondly remembers his time with the Beckham family, especially Victoria’s behavior at one of his sons’ birthday party.
“I was playing with[Beckham’s]son on the inflatable trampoline, jumping up and down, and out of nowhere I noticed David’s wife Victoria, the child’s mother, walking in,” Pavon Jr. revealed on La Pelota Al DIEZ, reflecting on his birthday party in the park.
“She started jumping with us and I was like, ‘I can’t believe we’re doing this with Victoria Beckham.’ So I think that was the funniest part. She came in and started jumping with us, and we all watched. Then when I came out, I think everyone saw my surprised face. They were like, ‘Wow, that just happened.'” It was really funny. ”
Pavon Sr.’s soccer journey has taken him to Mexico, Spain, Italy, Colombia and his native Honduras, where he represented the country at the 2010 World Cup. But for Pavon Jr., his family’s brief stay in Los Angeles felt like something out of a movie.
“It was incredible. I was 12 years old, so I was a little bit between childhood and adolescence, but I remember it well and it was completely different then,” he recalled. “I really felt it, I felt it had nothing to do with Italy, Mexico or Honduras.
“There we literally felt like we were in Hollywood, the people we interacted with, the cars, the food, the house, everything was like another level, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, and well, David Beckham’s presence also had a huge impact on it.
“I followed him and played with him in FIFA and everything else, so to see him in person and interact with him and his family was almost like a dream, like it wasn’t real.”
A few years after Pavon left the club, David finally found success with the Galaxy. The former Manchester United star led his team to back-to-back MLS Cup wins in 2011 and 2012.
Meanwhile, Victoria, who was recently the subject of a Netflix documentary, launched her fashion brand a year after moving to the US. As the Beckhams settle into life across the pond, the former Spice Girl has received praise for her work as a fashion designer.
David continues to make his mark on MLS as co-owner of Inter Miami. The team gained global attention after signing Lionel Messi in 2023, winning the League Cup and Supporters’ Shield during the Argentine legend’s time at the club.
