Eintracht Frankfurt 1-5 Liverpool: Arne Slott’s side ended their misery in a thrilling game in Germany despite conceding a goal in the first half
Liverpool put Eintracht Frankfurt to the sword mercilessly with a five-star display to curb the scrutiny that had been mounting towards Eintracht Frankfurt following a four-game losing streak.
Liverpool entered the game in their worst form under Arne Slott and desperately wanted to avoid falling behind after 26 minutes when Rasmus Christensen scored a low shot from the far post. However, the Reds responded well and regained parity with a goal from Hugo Ekitike, who returned to Frankfurt.
Quick-fire headers from Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, the latter of which was an absolute bullet, saw the light of day between Liverpool and the hosts before the break. Unfortunately for Frankfurt, Slott’s team was not finished.
Following a great pass from Dominik Szoboszlai, Florian Wirths teed up Kodi Gakpo for four points, before the Hungarian international made it five with a superb shot of his own. Here are Mirror Football’s player ratings for the big game…

Giorgi Mamadashvili – 6
With Frankfurt’s first goal, there was no chance. There wasn’t much else to do.
Jeremy Frimpong – N/A
He was forced off injured after just 19 minutes, another setback for the star player who has yet to get behind the wheel since arriving here in the summer.
Ibrahima Konate – 7
There was nothing to stop the defender’s header, resulting in a three-point lead. It was an improved performance following on from his performance against Manchester United.
Virgil van Dijk – 8
The Liverpool captain led by example, scoring Liverpool’s decisive second goal and taking the game away from Frankfurt.
Andy Robertson – 7
A great pass that led Ekitike to the equalizing goal. With Milos Kerkes struggling, he will be able to get his chance to start again at the weekend without any harm.
Florian Wirtz – 7
He got the much-needed assist for Liverpool’s fourth goal. It is hoped that Germany’s star player will be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 8
He has been one of Liverpool’s most consistent players this season, whether playing central midfield or right-back. He scored some great goals and is an all-round classy player.
Curtis Jones – 6
He ran a lot alongside Szoboszlai, giving Liverpool more energy and bite in the engine room.
Kodi Gakpo – 8
Gakpo’s dangerous goal and assist as against Manchester United. Of course he should protect his position.
Hugo Ekitike – 8
Other summer signings have arrived with much fanfare, but Ekitike appears to be head and shoulders above the rest at the moment. When he played towards goal, there was no doubt about the final result.
Alexander Isaac – 5
Another quiet 45 minutes from the former Newcastle man. I took it off during the break, but I still don’t know if it was for fitness reasons.

Connor Bradley – 7
He now has a chance to replace the unlucky Frimpong and earn a place in the first team. We moved forward well and made two great saves in the first half and second half to deny us a goal.
Federico Chiesa – 6
This season, he made a big impact off the bench as well. We didn’t really need to do it here because others stepped up.
Mohamed Salah – 6
His absence was a big topic of conversation before the game. It was lit when the match against Liverpool ended on cruise control.
Alexis Mac Allister – 6
He was substituted in the second half as the game was played as a contest.
Joe Gomez – 6
Konate was brought on late due to his absence from the Reds.
