Real Madrid’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has been out for a month, but the right-back has returned to training and could still be fit for the Champions League game against Liverpool at Anfield.
Xabi Alonso does not believe Trent Alexander-Arnold will recover from his injury in time for Real Madrid’s Champions League match against Juventus on Wednesday. The former Liverpool vice-captain returned to training ahead of the match, but had missed the past six games with a hamstring injury.
In Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, Alonso confirmed he would provide a final fitness update to the media on Saturday. It was the day before they played against Barcelona in El Clasico.
Real Madrid face the Reds at Anfield in two weeks’ time, a match that is being touted as Alexander-Arnold’s homecoming to his boyhood club.

The England player is expected to be selected, although his participation was doubtful due to the blow he suffered against Marseille in mid-September.
“I’m going to work on it day by day,” Alonso said. “Trent and (Dani) Carvajal have done some work. Looking ahead to tomorrow, I don’t think they will be ready.”
Alexander-Arnold’s absence from the game against Juventus means he could be back for a maximum of two games before Madrid travel to Liverpool.
The first game will be against Barcelona on Sunday, and the second game will be against Valencia a week later on Saturday.
He appeared in just five games for Madrid, three of which lasted less than 10 minutes.
The right-back started only half of his new club’s opening four league games this season, with Carvajal appearing in the remaining two.
Alexander-Arnold made just five appearances off the bench in the Premier League last season.
Despite ankle and hamstring injuries affecting his final season at Anfield, he managed to make 49 appearances in all competitions.
